Abstract

iii ABSTRACT AGUNG FAJRI. 2019. The fishing area of Dredges in Banten Bay. Supervised by RIRIN IRNAWATI and ANI RAHMAWATI. Dredges that operating in Banten Bay commonly used to catch blood clams (Anadara granosa) and hairy clams (Anadara cunearca). There were 8 units of dredges that have active operated until now. However, information about fishing gear and catches of dredges was limited. The purposes of this research were to identify the specifications unit of the dredges, the dredges in the waters of Banten Bay and the catches of fishing area This research was conducted in November 2018 until January 2019 in Banten Bay. The method of this research was survey, with experimental fishing by following the fishing activities of 8 units dredges with 3 replications for each unit. Specification of fishing gear was taken by measuring the parts of fishing gear such as body gears, weights, and mouth openings for dredges. The data were collected the number of catches per trip (kg), target catch (kg), by-catch (kg). In addition, data of the operation area of dredges, identification the fishing area of dredges the waters of Banten Bay and identification of catches of dredges were analyzed descriptively. Specifications of dredges, it has several components, namely frame, bag, dredges teeth, and sinkers which become a single unit of dredges. There were 13 units of dredges in the Cengkok River with 3 units damaged, 2 units without fisherman units, and the average boat used was 4 GT. Fishing ground of dredges in the Banten Bay region were in Kasemen waters, Sawah Luhur waters, and Kemayungan waters. The main catches of dredges were blood clams (Anadara granosa) and hairy clams (Anadara cunearca), and the by-catches were cuttlefish (Sepia sp.), octopus (Octopus sp.), mullet fish (Valamugil seheli), tiger snail (Babylonia spirata), crab (Portunus sp.), tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon), and white shrimp (Penaeus marguensis).
