Abstract
ABSTRACT The research is aimed to understand effect of small group disccussionto student’s criticalthinking skills on virusin human life subconcepts. The research method was quasi-experimental with randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The population of this research were all students of class X SMA Negeri 3 Cilegon of academic year 2013/2014 with sample were class X-4 as the experimental class and X-8 as the control class, determined by simple random sampling. The research data were analyzed with essay test, observation sheets, and student’s respone questionnaires. The result showed that student’s critical thinking skill belongs to good category with the percentage 72,2%. It can be conclude that effect of small group disccussion learning method implementation is affected to student’scriticalthinking skills ofvirusesin human life subconceptsof class X SMA Negeri 3 Cilegon. | Additional Information: | ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan metode pembelajaran small group disccussion terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada subkonsep peranan virus dalam kehidupan manusia. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen semu dengan desain kelompok acak pretest-posttest. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 3 Cilegon tahun ajaran 2014 dengan sampel kelas X-4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X-8 sebagai kelas kontrolyang ditentukan dengan teknik simple random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes uraian, lembar keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan angket skala sikap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang diukur melalui tes uraian tergolong dalam kategori baik dengan persentase 72,28. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penerapan metode small group disccussion terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada subkonsep peranan virus dalam kehidupan manusia kelas X SMAN 3 Cilegon.
