Abstract

Clientlalism as a derivation of feudalism has found its position in every era and civilization. Including the modern democracy as it is today. However, in the context of democracy, clientalism often shows unique and diverse forms. This study attempts to do a comparative elaboration of the phenomenon of clientalism at the local level to find a comparison of the forms of clientalism that occur in two areas, namely Lebak Regency and Pandeglang Regency. The context of clientalism in these two areas will be examined in terms of similarities and differences in order to find the unique form of each region. Lebak Regency based on the Jayabaya dynasty and Pandeglang Regency with the Natakusumah dynasty make this research even more important to do. Theoretically, this research uses the ideas of Ward Berenschot, Edward Aspinall and Mada Sukmajati who divide clientalism into several parts and Post-Clientalism which seeks to reflect forms of exchange that are no longer materialistic. In the methodological aspect of this research, it is oriented to Paul Pennings' concept of comparative studies which allows researchers to make comparisons to the selected research objects. The results showed that both in Lebak Regency and Pandeglang Regency had a unique form of clientalism, especially between local elites (Jayabaya and Natakusumah) with bureaucrats, village heads and civil society. These three actors provide a very interesting narrative related to the rolling form of clientalism. Keywords: Clientalism, Lebak, Pandeglang, Jayabaya, Natakusmah, Comparative.

Additional Information:	Klientlalisme sebagai derivasi dari feodalisme telah menemukan posisinya dalam setiap masa dan peradaban. Termasuk masa demokrasi modern seperti saat ini. Namun dalam konteks demokrasi kerap klientalisme memperlihatkan bentuk yang unik dan beragam. Penelitian ini berusaha melakukan elaborasi secara komparatif terhadap penomena klientalisme di aras lokal untuk menemukan perbandingan bentuk klientalisme yang terjadi di dua daerah yakni Kabupaten Lebak dan Kabupaten Pandeglang. Konteks klientalisme di dua daerah ini akan ditelisik pada aspek persamaan dan perbedaannya guna menemukan bentuk yang unik dari masing-masing daerah. Kabupaten Lebak dengan basis dinasti Jayabaya dan Kabupaten Pandeglang dengan dinasti Natakusumah membuat penelitian ini kian penting untuk dilakukan. Secara teoritis penelitian ini menggunakan buah pikirnya Ward Berenschot, Edward Aspinall dan Mada Sukmajati yang membagi bentuk klientalisme dalam beberapa bagian dan Post Klientalisme yang berusaha merefleksikan bentuk pertukaran yang tidak lagi mainstream dan materialistik. Pada aspek metodologi penelitian ini berkiblat pada konsep Paul Pennings tentang studi komparatif yang memungkinkan peneliti melakukan perbandingan terhadap objek penelitian yang dipilih. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa baik di Kabupaten Lebak Maupun Kabupaten Pandeglang memiliki bentuk klientalisme yang unik terutama antara elite lokal (Jayabaya dan Natakusumah) dengan Birokrat, Kepala Desa dan Masyarakat sipil. Ketiga aktor ini memberikan narasi yang sangat menarik terkait bentuk klientalisme yang bergulir Kata Kunci: Klientalisme, Lebak, Pandeglang, Jayabaya, Natakusmah, Komparatif.
