Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze mathematical problem-solving abilities based on the APOS theory in terms of students' self-confidence. Data collection was carried out at SMP Negeri 14 City of Serang with the subject being 20 students of SMP Negeri 14 City of Serang class VIII even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling and the research subjects used in this study were 6 students representing each category of student self-confidence. The method used is descriptive qualitative analysis by providing test instruments in the form of description questions, non-test instruments in the form of questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that subjects with high self-confidence were able to fulfill all stages of the APOS theory in solving problems, subjects with moderate self-confidence were able to fulfill the stages of action and process in solving problems, and subjects with low self-confidence were able to fulfill the stages of action in solving problems.

Additional Information: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis berdasarkan teori APOS ditinjau dari self confidence siswa. Pengambilan data dilakukan di SMP Negeri 14 Kota Serang dengan subjek yaitu 20 siswa SMP Negeri 14 Kota Serang kelas VIII semester genap tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah purposive sampling dan subjek penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu 6 siswa yang mewakili setiap kategori self confidence siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan cara memberikan instrumen tes berupa soal uraian, instrumen non tes berupa angket, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian diperoleh subjek dengan self confidence tinggi mampu memenuhi semua tahapan teori APOS dalam memecahkan masalah, subjek dengan self confidence sedang mampu memenuhi tahapan aksi dan proses dalam memecahkan masalah, dan subjek dengan self confidence rendah mampu memenuhi tahapan aksi dalam memecahkan masalah.
