Abstract

ABSTRACT Students' problems in producing a recount text in eleventh grade IPA 1 at SMAN 1 Warunggunung prompted the study. Some challenges were noticed by the researcher. Therefore, some students had difficulty developing ideas when writing. The purpose of the research was to find the students' challenges in composing recount text in eleventh grade IPA 1 at SMAN 1 Warunggunung. Case study was used as a method for this study. The informants for this study were students in the eleventh grade of IPA I, consisted of 34 students from SMAN 1 Warunggunung. Observation, documentation, and interviews were used to collect information, The result from this study confirms that students’ problem in writing recount text are; lack of vocabulary, lack of grammar, and hard in expressing idea. So it can be conclude those problem hidely affect students skill in writing recount text.

Additional Information: Permasalahan siswa dalam memproduksi teks recount di kelas sebelas IPA 1 SMAN 1 Warunggunung mendorong penelitian. Beberapa tantangan diperhatikan oleh peneliti. Oleh karena itu, beberapa siswa mengalami kesulitan mengembangkan ide saat menulis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan kesulitan siswa dalam menyusun teks recount kelas XI IPA 1 SMAN 1 Warunggunung. Studi kasus digunakan sebagai metode untuk penelitian ini. Informan penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA I yang terdiri dari 34 siswa SMAN 1 Warunggunung. Observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan informasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa masalah siswa dalam menulis teks recount adalah; kurangnya kosa kata, kurangnya tata bahasa, dan sulit dalam mengungkapkan ide. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa masalah tersebut sangat mempengaruhi keterampilan siswa dalam menulis teks recount.
