Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out the students’ anxiety in learning English, factors students’ anxiety, types of students; anxiety, and how students cope with their anxiety. This research was classified as a case study design using a qualitative research approach and it was conducted on the sixth-grade students of SDIT Cahaya La Royba. The data was obtained from observation, questionnaire and interview. The result of the first objectives, the factors of anxiety that researcher found are’ 9 out of 10 students having lack of confidence, 5 out of 10 students having fear of making mistakes, and the last 5 out of 10 students also having fear of friends/parents evaluation. Then the second objective, the types of anxiety that researcher found are 9 out of 10 students having communication apprehension, 5 out of 10 students having test anxiety, and 5 out of students having fear of negative evaluation. Last objective, the most common way for students to cope with their anxiety is resignation, preparation, peer-seeking, relaxation, and relaxation
