Abstract

The Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system functions as a back up power when there is a disturbance on the grid by relying on the battery as an electricity store, so it is important to maintain battery efficiency to get maximum battery performance. The SAS Substation Automation System (UPS) system battery at PT KDL is charged under the recommended undercharging (247.5 V), but actually 221 V. It causes damage because the battery is not fully charged when the charger supplies floating voltage. In this study analyzing the effect of undercharging that occurred at PT KDL, the value of testing battery efficiency when undercharging was 6% and 100% when the battery was normal charging so that the efficiency losses percentage was 94%, the initial total voltage value of the battery when undercharging was 211.5 V and 227 .7 V when the battery is normal charging so that the voltage losses and their percentage are 16.2 V and 7.11 %, the battery capacity values when undercharging are 6 Ah and 100 Ah when the battery is normal charging resulting in losses of battery capacity of 94 Ah, and the holding time battery when undercharging 1.2 hours with a load of 5 A and 10 hours with a load of 10 A when the battery is normally charging. Based on the results of calculations and analysis from this study, 2 solutions were obtained, namely replacing the coil breaker, adding a dropper diode, and reducing the number of cells in the battery.

Additional Information: Sistem Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) berfungsi sebagai back up daya saat terjadi gangguan di jala-jala dengan mengandalkan baterai sebagai penyimpan listrik, maka pentingnya untuk menjaga efisiensi baterai untuk mendapatkan performa baterai yang maksimal. Baterai sistem UPS ruangan (Substation Automation System) SAS di PT KDL di-charge di bawah tegangan floating (undercharging) yang dianjurkan yaitu 247,5 V, namun aktualnya 221 V. Mengakibatkan kerusakan karena baterai tidak full charger pada saat charger menyuplai tegangan floating. Pada penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh undercharging yang terjadi di PT KDL, didapatkan nilai pengujian efisiensi baterai saat undercharging 6 % dan 100 % saat baterai normal charging sehingga persentase losses efisiensinya yaitu 94 %, nilai tegangan total awal baterai saat undercharging yaitu 211,5 V dan 227,7 V saat baterai normal charging sehingga losses tegangan dan persentasenya yaitu 16,2 V dan 7,11 %, nilai kapasitas baterai saat undercharging yaitu 6 Ah dan 100 Ah saat baterai normal charging sehingga terjadi losses kapasitas baterai sebesar 94 Ah, dan waktu bertahan baterai saat undercharging 1,2 jam dengan beban 5 A dan 10 jam dengan beban 10 A saat baterai normal charging. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan dan analisis dari penelitian ini didapatkan 2 solusi, yaitu penggantian coil breaker, penambahkan dropper diode, dan pengurangi jumlah sel pada baterai.
