Abstract

This research focuses on the influence of word wall media towards students' vocabulary mastery for the seventh grade at SMPN 1 Gunungsari, Serang District. The research problems are the students’ lack of vocabulary mastery and the lack of students' willingness to learn English. The purpose of this study was to find out the influence of word wall media towards students' vocabulary mastery for the seventh grade at SMPN 1 Gunungsari, Serang District. This study used quantitative research that applies a quasi-experimental design as a research method. This study includes two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The result of the research showed that the students’ vocabulary mastery increased because of the use of word wall media in the teaching-learning process. It is shown by the t-test value is greater than the t-table value (2.121 > 2.009). It means that the alternative hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the use of word wall media towards students' vocabulary mastery for the seventh grade at SMPN 1 Gunungsari.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengaruh media dinding kata terhadap penguasaan kosa kata siswa kelas VII SMPN 1 Gunungsari Kabupaten Serang. Masalah penelitian adalah kurangnya penguasaan kosa kata siswa dan kurangnya kemauan siswa untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh media dinding kata terhadap penguasaan kosa kata siswa kelas VII SMPN 1 Gunungsari Kabupaten Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif yang menggunakan desain eksperimen semu sebagai metode penelitian. Penelitian ini meliputi dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penguasaan kosa kata siswa meningkat karena penggunaan media dinding kata dalam proses belajar mengajar. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai t-test lebih besar dari nilai t-tabel (2,121 > 2,009). Artinya hipotesis alternatif diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan media dinding kata terhadap penguasaan kosa kata siswa kelas tujuh SMPN 1 Gunungsari.
