ABSTRACT Yusie Purnama Sari. NIM. 6662102585. Thesis. "Bebasan" language in the Communicational Culture of Teenagers in Serang. Mentor I: Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Sihabudin, M.Si and Mentor II: Dipl. Ing (FH) Rangga G. Gumelar, M.Si. Language as a communication system is a part of the culture system. The era of globalization is not directly involved in the reduction of the use of the word “Bebasan” by teenagers in Serang, until the use of the word “Bebasan” displaced by the trends language and make use decreased. However, in this time there are teenagers in Serang who participated preserve, that is teenagers in MA.AlKhairiyah Pipitan. This research is using a descriptive method and qualitative approach with analysis of cultural and social identity on the use of the word “Bebasan” in the communicational culture by teenagers in serang. These identity both cultural and social will be researched based on the structure of each. The research found that every part of the structure to make sense of the use of the word “Bebasan” by teenagers in Serang as a form of love for the culture and social participation. In the form of cultural structure, adolescent view of the use of the word “Bebasan” based on the reality of knowledge and experience, it is obtained from the process to think youth in developing of the use of the word “Bebasan” taught by parents since childhood, then lead to a love of high culture and encourage teenagers into feeling happy or not happy, and feeling it was pronounced as a form of expression for their feelings. In the form of social structure, the use of the word “Bebasan” grouped adolescents in social interaction in-group and out-group, the way it's easier for teens to adjust the language to be used when communicating, so there is a balancing between the use of the word “Bebasan”, market language and trends language that coexist with the good in every communication activities, behavior by teenagers also adjust the language used, but behavior by teenagers when communicating using of the word “Bebasan” formed of values and cultural norms so in regards to behaviour, there are no teenagers who act impolitely. Ing (FH) Rangga G. Gumelar, M.Si. Bahasa sebagai sistem komunikasi merupakan bagian dari sistem kebudayaan. Era globalisasi secara tidak langsung terlibat dalam berkurangnya penggunaan bahasa “Bebasan” oleh remaja Kota Serang, sehingga bahasa “Bebasan” tergeser oleh bahasa trend dan membuat penggunaannya menurun. Namun, di zaman ini masih ada remaja Kota Serang yang berpartisipasi melestarikannya, yaitu remaja MA.Al-Khairiyah Pipitan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dan pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis identitas budaya dan sosial pada penggunaan bahasa “Bebasan” dalam budaya komunikasi remaja Kota Serang. Identitas budaya maupun sosial akan diteliti berdasarkan strukturnya masing-masing. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa setiap bagian struktur memaknai penggunaan bahasa “Bebasan” oleh remaja Kota Serang sebagai wujud kecintaan terhadap budaya dan partisipasi sosial. Dalam wujud struktur budaya, pandangan remaja terhadap bahasa “Bebasan” berdasarkan realita dari pengetahuan dan pengalaman, hal itu didapat dari olah pikir remaja dalam mengembangkan penggunaan bahasa “Bebasan” yang diajarkan oleh orang tua sejak kecil, kemudian menimbulkan kecintaan budaya yang tinggi dan mendorong remaja ke dalam perasaan senang ataupun tidak senang, lalu perasaan itu pun diucapkan sebagai bentuk ungkapan atas perasaan mereka. Dalam wujud struktur sosial, penggunaan bahasa “Bebasan” dikelompokkan remaja dalam interaksi sosial in-group dan out-group, cara itu untuk mempermudah remaja dalam menyesuaikan bahasa yang akan digunakan saat berkomunikasi, sehingga ada penyeimbangan antara bahasa “Bebasan”, bahasa Pasaran dan bahasa trend agar berdampingan dengan baik disetiap kegiatan komunikasinya, perilaku remaja pun menyesuaikan bahasa yang digunakannya, tapi perilaku remaja saat berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa “Bebasan” dibentuk dari nilai dan norma budaya sehingga tidak ada remaja yang perilakunya tidak sopan santun.
