Abstract

ABSTRACT Rizki Wulan Maulida, 2221180002, 2023 “Implementation of Learning Models Self Directed Learning in Developing Students' Cognitive Ability Homeschooling HSPG City of Serang” Advisor I Dr. H. Suherman, M.Pd, Supervisor II Herlina Siregar, M.Pd. There is a background problem or reasons why many parents and students prefer to use homeschooling as the educational path they take, including; many students have difficulty adjusting their study time while in formal schools, many students cannot follow the pace of learning while in formal schools, students cannot focus on learning because of pressure from the system created in formal schools, students do not have freedom learn optimally, and there are students who feel burdened with learning that is not their own will. From the research conducted, the researchers found that there were problems in the HSPG of the city of Serang, namely; there are students who have a slightly slower grasping power during learning, and there are many learning methods and models that are felt to be less effective for use when implementing learning. Judging from the problems that exist in HSPG, the researchers set the aim of this study to determine the cognitive development of students homeschooling by using the application of learning models self directed learning, because to be able to develop the cognitive abilities of students, it is necessary to develop a learning model that can accommodate the unique learning styles that exist in each student in the process of constructing knowledge and problem solving abilities, as according to Zamnah & Ruswana in Hanik (2020: 188) who argue that Self-Directed Learning can be understood as an increase in knowledge, expertise, achievement and individual development that begins with own initiative using self-study planning and self-directed learning, realizing the need for self-study in achieving learning goals by making self-study strategies and self-assessment of learning outcomes. As for this research, the research method and approach used is descriptive-qualitative method, in which the data collected in qualitative research are in the form of words, pictures, and not numbers. The results of the research conducted show that in the application of the learning model (SDL) the tutors and students fulfill all the criteria from the stages of the process of using the learning model (SDL). As for the development of Cognitive Ability of Homeschooling HSPG Students in Serang City it is considered good enough, but there are some students in HSPG who need attention and understanding in learning which is quite long compared to others. There are also advantages and disadvantages in using learning models self directed learning. Keywords: Learning model self directed learning, cognitive abilities, homeschooling.

Terdapat latar belakang permasalahan atau alasan mengapa banyak orang tua dan peserta didik lebih memilih menggunakan homeschooling sebagai jalur pendidikan yang mereka tempuh antara lain; banyaknya peserta didik yang kesulitan menyesuaikan waktu belajarnya ketika berada di sekolah formal, banyak peserta didik yang tidak bisa mengikuti kecepatan belajar ketika berada di sekolah formal, peserta didik tidak bisa fokus belajar sebab tekanan dari sistem yang dibuat pada sekolah formal, peserta didik tidak memiliki kebebasan belajar secara maksimal, dan terdapat peserta didik yang merasa terbebani dengan pembelajaran yang bukan kemauan dari diri mereka sendiri. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan peneliti menemukan adanya permasalahan yang terdapat di HSPG kota Serang yaitu; adanya peserta didik yang memiliki daya tangkap sedikit lebih lambat saat pembelajaran, dan banyaknya metode dan model pembelajaran yang dirasa kurang efektif untuk dipakai saat pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Dilihat dari masalah yang ada di HSPG maka peneliti menetapkan tujuan penelitian ini guna mengetahui perkembangan kognitif peserta didik homeschooling dengan menggunakan penerapan model pembelajaran self directed learning, karena untuk dapat mengembangkan kemampuan kognitif para peserta didik, perlu dikembangkannya suatu model pembelajaran yang dapat mengakomodasi keunikan gaya belajar yang ada pada diri setiap peserta didik dalam proses pengkonstruksian pengetahuan dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah, seperti menurut Zamnah & Ruswana dalam Hanik (2020:188) yang berpendapat bahwa Self-Directed Learning dapat dipahami sebagai peningkatan pengetahuan, keahlian, prestasi dan pengembangan individu yang diawali dengan inisiatif sendiri menggunakan perencanaan belajar sendiri dan dilakukan sendiri, menyadari kebutuhan belajar sendiri dalam mencapai tujuan belajar dengan cara membuat strategi belajar sendiri serta penilaian hasil belajar sendiri. Adapun dalam penelitian ini metode dan pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif-kualitatif, yang mana data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian kualitatif adalah berupa kata-kata, gambar, dan bukan angka-angka. Hasil dari penelitian yang dilakukan diketahui bahwa dalam penerapan model pembelajaran (SDL) para tutor dan para peserta didik memenuhi semua kriteria dari tahapan proses menggunakan model pembelajaran (SDL). Adapun dalam perkembangan Kemampuan Kognitif Peserta Didik Homeschooling HSPG Kota Serang dirasa sudah cukup baik, namun ada sebagian dari peserta didik di HSPG yang membutuhkan perhatian dan pemahaman dalam belajar yang cukup lama dibandingkan dengan yang lain. juga terdapat kelebihan dan kekurangan dalam pemakaian model pembelajaran self directed learning.
