Abstract

Science process skills are skills that must be possessed by someone in this 21st century education. Science process skills can be developed through learning activities using the 8E Learning Cycle learning model. In addition, the buffer solution material allows learning activities to develop science process skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' science process skills after applying the 8E Learning Cycle learning model in buffer solution material and to determine student responses to learning activities using the 8E Learning Cycle learning model in improving students' science process skills in buffer solution material. This research is included as a quantitative research design using the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample in this study were 28 students of class XI IPA SMA Al-Mubarok with purposive sampling. The research instruments used included lesson plans, worksheets, test questions, observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. Data were analyzed descriptively using n-gain and statistically using paired sample t-test. The results of the n-gain calculation show that there is an increase in 7 indicators of science process skills with medium and high criteria. These results are supported by the calculation results of the paired sample t-test which obtained a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05) which indicates that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. In addition, students' responses to learning activities using the 8E Learning Cycle learning model on buffer solution material were very good, as seen from the results of the questionnaire which obtained an average score of 82.5% and included in the very good criteria. Additional Information: Keterampilan proses sains merupakan keterampilan yang mesti dimiliki seseorang pada pendidikan abad 21 ini. Keterampilan proses sains bisa dikembangkan melalui kegiatan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran 8E Learning Cycle. Selain itu, materi larutan penyangga memungkinkan kegiatan pembelajarannya dapat mengembangkan keterampilan proses sains. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan proses sains siswa setelah penerapan model pembelajaran 8E Learning Cycle pada materi larutan penyangga dan mengetahui respon siswa terhadap kegiatan pembelajaran menggunakan model pembelajaran 8E Learning Cycle dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa pada materi larutan penyangga. Penelitian ini termasuk kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain penelitian One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Al-Mubarok sebanyak 28 orang dengan pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan antara lain RPP, LKS, soal tes, lembar observasi, dan angket respon siswa. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif menggunakan n-gain dan secara statistik menggunakan uji paired sample t-test. Hasil perhitungan n-gain memperlihatkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan 7 indikator keterampilan proses sains dengan kriteria sedang dan tinggi. Hasil tersebut didukung dengan hasil perhitungan uji paired sample t-test yang memperoleh nilai siginifikansi 0,000 (<0,05) yang menunjukkan bahwa H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Selain itu, respon siswa terhadap kegiatan pembelajaran menggunakan model pembelajaran 8E Learning Cycle pada materi larutan penyangga adalah sangat baik, terlihat dari hasil angket yang memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 82,5% dan termasuk dalam kriteria sangat baik. Kata Kunci: Model Pembelajaran 8E Learning Cycle, Larutan Penyangga, Keterampilan Proses sains.
