Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to find the motivation to learn and cognitive abilities of students in the subconcepts female reproductive system through the application of learning strategies PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) and the technique of mind mapping in XI class at SMAN 2 Serang. This study is a descriptive study with variable learning motivation and cognitive abilities of students through the application of learning strategies PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) and the technique of mind mapping. The population in this study were all students of class XI SMA Serang City 2 2013/2014 school year. The study sample consisted of one class, namely the class XI Science 5. The sampling technique was conducted by random sampling. The technique used for data retrieval, there are two types, namely test and non-test techniques. Engineering tests performed using multiple choice tests to measure students' cognitive abilities and non technical tests conducted by using a questionnaire to measure student motivation. The results show the value of the student's motivation for 76.08 with both categories of students' cognitive abilities and the value of 0.64 with a medium category. Based on the results of this study concluded that the motivation of students of class XI Science 5 on SMAN 2 in Serang included in both categories and cognitive abilities included in the medium category. | Additional Information: | ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motivasi belajar dan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada subkonsep sistem reproduksi wanita melalui penerapan strategi belajar PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) dan teknik mind map pada kelas XI di SMA Negeri 2 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan variabel motivasi belajar dan kemampuan kognitif siswa melalui penerapan strategi belajar PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) dan teknik mind map. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 2 Kota Serang tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari satu kelas, yaitu kelas XI IPA 5. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara random sampling. Teknik yang digunakan untuk pengambilan data ada dua jenis, yaitu teknik tes dan non tes. Teknik tes dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes pilihan ganda untuk mengukur kemampuan kognitif siswa dan teknik non tes dilakukan dengan menggunakan angket motivasi untuk mengukur motivasi siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai motivasi siswa sebesar 76.08 dengan kategori baik dan nilai kemampuan kognitif siswa sebesar 0.64 dengan kategori sedang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa motivasi siswa kelas XI IPA 5 di SMA Negeri 2 Kota Serang termasuk dalam kategori baik dan kemampuan kognitifnya termasuk dalam kategori sedang.
