Abstract

With the world's oil reserves decreasing, energy saving programs have been started all over the world. Recently, Indonesia has become a crude oil importing country. The sustainability of biomass gasification, especially in Indonesia, is guaranteed because of the abundant availability of biomass in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the performance of a 5 kW diesel generator set against various loads with diesel fuel and diesel plus syngas (synthetic gas) from sawdust. This research was carried out at the Renewable Energy Laboratory, Faculty of Engineering, UNTIRTA. The author conducted this research using a total load of 5.2 kW halogen lamps. In this study, the load used was only 3.2 kW because the genset's "non-optimal conditions" resulted in sub-optimal engine speed. The value of the diesel generator force at the point of low loading increases. While at the point of high loading decreased. Keywords: gasification, sawdust, syngas, renewable.

Additional Information: Dengan semakin berkurangnya cadangan minyak dunia, program penghematan enegri telah dimulai di seluruh dunia. Belakangan ini, Indonesia kini menjadi salah satu negara pengimpor minyak mentah. Keberlanjutan gasifikasi biomassa khususnya di Indonesia sangat terjamin karena ketersediaan biomassa yang melimpah di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji unjuk kerja genset diesel 5 kW terhadap berbagai beban dengan bahan bakar solar dan solar plus syngas (gas sintetik) dari serbuk gergaji. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Energi Terbarukan Fakultas Teknik UNTIRTA. Penulis melakukan penelitian ini dengan menggunakan beban total lampu halogen sebesar 5,2 kW. Pada penelitian ini beban yang digunakan hanya sebesar 3,2 kW karena “kondisi tidak optimal” genset mengakibatkan putaran mesin tidak optimal. Nilai gaya generator diesel pada titik pembebanan rendah meningkat. Sedangkan pada titik pembebanan tinggi mengalami penurunan. Kata kunci: gasifikasi, serbuk gergaji, syngas, terbarukan.
