Abstract
ABSTRACT The purpose of this reseach is to know the student’s ability on the concept of the human respiratory system through the learning model of (Think-pair-share). The reseach method is used description method. And the subject of the research is the second grade students of VIII I SMP Negeri 1 Baros academic year 2012/2013. The student’s Cognitive ability is measured by multiple choice test. The results of the research shows that the student’s cognitive ability in the score of medium category ( the average score of 72,3). This improvement score of cognitive ability is measured by the index gain it shows the level of medium category with score of 0,51. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif. Subyek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VIII I SMP Negeri 1 Baros tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Kemampuan kognitif siswa diukur menggunakan tes pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan kognitif siswa termasuk dalam kategori cukup, nilai rata-rata 72,3. Peningkatan nilai kemampuan kognitif yang diukur melalui indeks gain termasuk dalam kategori sedang dengan nilai 0,51.
