Abstract

ABSTRACT Vocabulary has essential influence in learning English. It is the important aspect for English learners in learning writing, listening, reading and speaking. The issue of this research was about teaching method. Due to the development of teaching English, there are many effective methods that can be adapted by the teacher in the classroom. The teacher should be careful in choosing method because it has big influence to the successful of teaching learning process. The objectives of the research were to know the process of teaching vocabulary through test – study – test method and to know the improvement of student’s vocabulary mastery through test – study - test at the second grade of SMPN 1 Kibin Kabupaten Serang. The research methodology was quantitative research implementing the action research. Action research was supported by the data, in this case the result of the student’s test. The subject of this research is the students of VIII G which consist of 32 students. The instrument used in data collecting are test, observation and documentation. Consequently, the researcher applied test – study – test method to solve the problem in this school, test – study – test made the students easier to recall the vocabulary and interested to study. Based on the result and discussion of the research, the researcher concluded that teaching vocabulary using test – study – test at the second grade students of SMPN 1 Kibin Kabupaten Serang has been implemented appropriately.
