Abstract

This paper aims to examine the issue of the Political Construction of 'Jawara' Banten After Chasan Sochib. The political issue of 'Jawara' is a crucial issue because the shackles of informal actors in local government are still enduring even after the death of the Banten Godfather which became the foundation for the existence of Jawara in the field of political economy, giving rise to practices with political purposes. The theory of Local Bossism became the knife of analysis to dissect this research. This research method uses Creswell-style phenomenology by focusing on epoche and structure in seeing and interpreting the political concept of 'Jawara' based on the direct experience of each key informant. The results of this study show that the conception and operationalization of the meaning of 'Jawara' has changed a lot, but its existence is maintained. It is interpreted that 'Jawara' Politics as a way to become a political force by utilizing the Jawara organization. Then, the political construction of Banten's 'Jawara' post Chasan Sochib concluded; First, there is no Jawaranya Jawara. Second, the support of political actors. Third, some who are members of the Jawara organization have received higher education. Fourth, many new pagurons and martial arts schools were formed led by the Jawara breed to multiply the masses. Fifth, it is filled by a formal leader. Sixth, the success of the Dynasty-shaped Jawara breed in Serang Raya and Tangerang Raya. Seventh, strive to erase the image of Jawara and wrapped up in art, education, and achievements.

Additional Information: Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji persoalan mengenai Konstruksi Politik ‘Jawara’ Banten Pasca Chasan Sochib. Persoalan Politik ‘Jawara’ merupakan isu krusial karena masih langgengnya belenggu aktor-aktor informal di pemerintahan lokal bahkan pasca wafatnya Godfather Banten yang menjadi pondasi eksisnya para Jawara di bidang ekonomi politik sehingga memunculkan praktik-praktik yang bertujuan politis. Teori Local Bossism menjadi pisau analisa untuk membedah penelitian ini. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan fenomenologi ala Creswell dengan memfokuskan pada epoche dan struktur dalam melihat serta memaknai konsep politik ‘Jawara’ berdasarkan pengalaman langsung masing-masing key informant. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konsepsi dan operasionalisasi makna ‘Jawara’ terbilang banyak mengalami perubahan, namun eksistensinya tetap terjaga. Dimaknai bahwa Politik ‘Jawara’ sebagai sebuah jalan untuk menjadi kekuatan politik dengan cara memanfaatkan organisasi Jawara. Kemudian, konstruksi politik ‘Jawara’ Banten pasca Chasan Sochib menyimpulkan; Pertama, tidak ada Jawaranya para Jawara. Kedua, dukungan dari aktor-aktor politik. Ketiga, beberapa yang tergabung dalam organisasi Jawara telah mengenyam pendidikan tinggi. Keempat, banyak terbentuk paguron dan aliran silat baru yang dipimpin oleh trah Jawara untuk memperbanyak massa. Kelima, diisi oleh pemimpin formal. Keenam, berjayanya trah Jawara berbentuk Dinasti di Serang Raya dan Tangerang Raya. Ketujuh, berusaha keras menghapus citra Jawara dan dibungkus dengan seni, edukasi, dan prestasi.
