Abstract

Lemongrass is one of the important essential oil-producing plants in Indonesia. Citronella oil can be used as aromatherapy, perfumes, cosmetics, massage oil, air freshener, insect repellent, and traditional medicine. The continuous use of inorganic fertilizers can have a negative impact on the environment and humans. Therefore, to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers, animal manure and vermicompost are used. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving various types of organic fertilizers on the growth of citronella plant (Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle). This research was conducted from November 2021 to March 2022 at the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Kp. Cikuya Karang Kitri, Sindang Sari Village, Pabuaran District, Serang Regency, Banten. This type of research is experimental research. The experiment was conducted using a one-factor Randomized Block Design with five replications. Type of organic fertilizer as a factor with five levels (P0 = control; P1 = chicken manure; P2 = goat manure; P3 = cow manure; P4 = vermicompost). Data was analyzed with analysis of variance level of 5% continued with Least Significant Difference level of 5%. The results of the study giving various types of organic fertilizers had a good effect only on the variables number of leaves and number of tillers aged 2 WAP with an average value of 1,71 strands and 1,51 stems in the cow manure treatment.

Additional Information: Serai merupakan salah satu tanaman penghasil minyak atsiri yang penting di Indonesia. Minyak serai wangi dapat digunakan sebagai aromaterapi, parfum, kosmetik, minyak pijat, pengharum ruangan, pengusir serangga, dan obat tradisional. Penggunaan pupuk anorganik secara terus menerus dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif bagi lingkungan dan manusia. Oleh karena itu, untuk mengurangi penggunaan pupuk anorganik digunakan pupuk kandang dan kascing. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian berbagai jenis pupuk organik terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman serai wangi (Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2021 sampai Maret 2022 di Lahan Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Kp. Cikuya Karang Kitri, Desa Sindang Sari, Kecamatan Pabuaran, Kabupaten Serang, Banten. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Percobaan dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok satu faktor dengan lima ulangan. Jenis pupuk organik sebagai faktor dengan lima taraf (P0 = kontrol; P1 = kotoran ayam; P2 = kotoran kambing; P3 = kotoran sapi; P4 = kascing). Data dianalisis dengan analisis taraf varian 5% dilanjutkan dengan taraf Beda Nyata Terkecil 5%. Hasil penelitian pemberian berbagai jenis pupuk organik berpengaruh baik hanya pada variabel jumlah daun dan jumlah anakan umur 2 MST dengan nilai rata-rata 1,71 helai dan 1,51 batang pada perlakuan pupuk kandang sapi.
