Ririn Muthia Rislaesa. NIM. 073052. Skripsi. Pemahaman Idealisme dalam Profesi Wartawan ( Studi pada Wartawan Lokal di Banten). Wartawan dijuluki sebagai kepanjangan tangan dan penyambung lidah rakyat. Pendapat setiap orang terhadap profesi wartawan tentu berbeda. Begitu pula pendapat wartawan mengenai profesinya dan bagaimana ia memahami idealisme dalam profesinya. Belum diketahuinya bagaimana pemahaman wartawan terhadap profesi mereka yang berkaitan mengenai idealisme, membuat peneliti merasa tertarik untuk meneliti. Penelitian ini berupaya untuk menggambarkan pendapat atau paham yang telah ada dalam pikiran wartawan di Banten mengenai idealisme wartawan. Peneliti mengambil lokasi penelitian di Banten. Pemilihan lokasi penelitian di Banten ini didasarkan pada pertimbangan bahwa Banten merupakan provinsi yang terlihat semakin berkembang, dengan demikian prosentase keanekaragaman media dan wartawan semakin besar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah ingin mengetahui pemahaman idealisme dalam profesi wartawan. Pemahaman idealisme dalam profesi ini terkait dengan profesionalisme, independensi, dan kesejahteraan yang tentunya sangat mempengaruhi idealisme seorang wartawan, sehingga mengakibatkan penyimpangan perilaku dikalangan wartawan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dimana peneliti berusaha menggambarkan secara detail mengenai segala data dan informasi yang diperoleh. Penelitian ini menggunakan alur pikir teori Konstruksi Sosial ( the social construction of self) yang di dalamnya terdapat teori Konsep Diri yang dikemukakan oleh Rom Harre. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa wartawan di Banten memiliki konsep diri bahwa profesinya merupakan profesi yang mulia. Profesi wartawan bukan hanya pekerjaan mencari dan menyusun berita untuk suatu perusahaan media yang diiakukan semata-mata mencari penghasilan, lebih jauh daripada itu ialah mereka memiliki tanggung jawab moral kepada publik. Didasarkan pada tinjauan teori konsep Diri, diketahui jika wartawan di Banten memiliki beberapa pergeseran konsep diri dibanding ketika baru menjadi wartawan. Wartawan yang sebelumnya menganggap imbalan merupakan hal yang tidak diperbolehkan, bergeser menjadi diperbolehkan asal tidak meminta. Pergeseran konsep diri ini berimbas pada independensi wartawan dan idealisme mereka yang makin terkikis.

Comprehension of Idealism in Profession of Journalist Journalist is often symbolized as a people representation and news messenger for society. Others may have different opinion about journalism as it does for them in perceiving their own job and how they comprehend their idealism upon their profession. It has not, so far, been known about how journalist‟s comprehension over their own profession related to idealism. The author is eager to conduct a research about the issue. This research is meant to describe what the opinion and comprehension they have had regarding idealism in their job and how much they appreciate their own job. The subjects of the research were some journalists in the province of Banten and the site of research was also performed in Banten. The selection of Banten as a subject site is based on that Banten is one the province that has been growing. The growth of Banten has increased the percentage of journalism diversity. The purpose of this research is to identify how the journalist can describe and comprehend idealism in their job. The idealism comprehension is associated with professionalism, independency, and prosperity which can possibly influence the journalist idealism. The method of research used was qualitative description which the author tried to describe in a detail by investigating the data and information related to the issue. This research used mind flow of a „Social Construction of self‟ theory which including „Self conceptual‟ proposed by Rom Harre. The result of the research concludes that the journalist in Banten have „Self Concept‟ and perceive their job as a noble work but. The work of journalism is not only about collecting and setting the news for the living but also about moral responsibility to the public. Based on the review of „Self Concept‟ theory the author found out that some of the journalists in Banten have changing „Self Concept‟ if we compare between when he worked as a junior journalist in the beginning and after he becomes a senior. In the beginning the „Self Concept‟ is that taking the reward for something in return is not allowed and an unethical act, but in the end after some time of working they act oppositely , they feel is alright if they take some „‟rewards‟‟ as long as they don‟t ask for it. This changing „Self Concept‟ is absolutely destroying their independency and idealism. |
