Abstract

The most important factor to consider in infrastructure development is the condition of the soil beneath it. Especially if the construction site's soil is clay, which has a low bearing capacity, low permeability, and a slow consolidation process due to its high water content. The soil on Kampung Juhut Street, Karang Tanjung District, Pandeglang Regency, has a carrying capacity of 3.01% (the CBR value for subgrade is 6%), so it needs to be stabilized to increase its carrying capacity. In this study, the plastic powder was used as an additive because plastic is non-cohesive (low cohesiveness), which is inversely proportional to the nature of clay soil, which has high cohesiveness. This study aims to determine the type and classification of soil, the influence of soil physical properties, and the influence of the unconfined compressive strength value before and after adding plastic powder with a mixture of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% with a curing time of 0 days, 7 days, 14 days and 28 days. The results showed that based on USCS soil classification, the soil on Kampung Juhut Street, Karang Tanjung District, Pandeglang Regency, was included in organic clay soils with moderate to high plasticity (SC). The value of the plasticity index decreased from 22.86% to 12.17% at an 8% variation and 11.92% at a 10% variation. The original soil unconfined compression strength value was 1.119 kg/cm2 and increased with the addition of plastic powder, where the unconfined compression strength values from variations of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%, respectively were 2.775 kg/cm2, 2.931 kg/cm2, 3.168 kg/cm2, 3.301 kg/cm2, 3.380 kg/cm2, 3.276 kg/cm2 at 28 days ripening time. The optimum value was obtained at 8% variation with a unconfined compression strength value of 3.380 kg/cm2, with a very stiff consistency.

Additional Information: Faktor terpenting yang harus diperhatikan dalam pembangunan infrastruktur adalah kondisi tanah di bawahnya. Apalagi jika tanah pada lokasi pembangunan berupa lempung yang memiliki daya dukung rendah, permeabilitas rendah, dan proses konsolidasi yang lambat karena kandungan airnya yang tinggi. Tanah di Jalan Kampung Juhut Kecamatan Karang Tanjung Kabupaten Pandeglang memiliki daya dukung sebesar 3,01% (nilai CBR untuk tanah dasar 6%), sehingga perlu distabilisasi untuk meningkatkan daya dukungnya. Pada penelitian ini digunakan serbuk plastik sebagai bahan tambah karena plastik bersifat non-kohesif (kohesif rendah), dimana berbanding terbalik dengan sifat tanah lempung yang memiliki kohesivitas tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis dan klasifikasi tanah, pengaruh sifat fisik tanah, dan pengaruh nilai kuat tekan bebas sebelum dan sesudah penambahan serbuk plastik dengan campuran 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% dengan waktu pemeraman 0 hari, 7 hari, 14 hari dan 28 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan klasifikasi tanah USCS, tanah di Jalan Kampung Juhut Kecamatan Karang Tanjung Kabupaten Pandeglang termasuk dalam tanah lempung organik dengan plastisitas sedang hingga tinggi (OH). Nilai indeks plastisitas mengalami penurunan dari 22,86% menjadi 12,17% pada variasi 8% dan 11,92% pada variasi 10%. Nilai kuat tekan bebas tanah asli adalah 1,119 kg/cm2 dan meningkat dengan penambahan serbuk plastik, dimana nilai kuat tekan bebas dari variasi 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, dan 10% berturut-turut adalah 2,775 kg/cm2, 2.931 kg/cm2, 3.168 kg/cm2, 3.301 kg/cm2, 3.380 kg/cm2, 3.276 kg/cm2 pada waktu pemeraman 28 hari. Nilai optimum didapatkan pada variasi 8% dengan nilai kuat tekan bebas sebesar 3,380 kg/cm2, dengan konsistensi Very Stiff.
