Abstract

This research aims to: 1). Knowing the emotional abilities of children aged 5-6 years; 2). Knowing the application of reward and punishment in developing children's emotional abilities; 3). Knowing the advantages and disadvantages of implementing rewards and punishments. The approach used in this study is to use a qualitative approach. As for the method using descriptive because this research describes or describes the conditions in the field. Data collection techniques obtained through observation, interviews, field notes and documentation. After the data is obtained, it is then analyzed using data reduction steps, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. From the research results, it can be concluded that: 1). Their emotional abilities have shown good emotional development, including children who have self-regulation, self-motivation, and the ability to empathize well; 2). Its application is quite good in giving positive things to children; 3). The advantages can provide high motivation to always be a champion, the disadvantages are that children feel that they are higher than their friends.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1). Mengetahui kemampuan emosional anak usia 5-6 tahun; 2). Mengetahui penerapan reward dan punishment dalam mengembangkan kemampuan emosional anak; 3). Mengetahui kelebihan dan kekurangan dari penerapan reward dan punishment. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Sedangkan untuk metodenya menggunakan deskriptif karena penelitian ini menggambarkan atau mendeskripsikan kondisi dilapangan. Teknik pengumpulan data didapatkan melalui observasi, wawancara, catatan lapangan dan dokumentasi. Setelah data didapatkan selanjutnya dianalisis dengan Langkah-langkah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa: 1). Kemampuan emosionalnya sudah menunjukkan perkembangan emosional yang baik diantaranya anak memiliki pengaturan diri, motivasi diri, kemampuan berempati dengan baik; 2). Penerapannya sudah cukup baik dalam memberikan hal positif kepada anak; 3). Kelebihannya dapat memberikan motivasi yang tinggi untuk selalu menjadi juara, kekurangannya anak merasa bahwa dirinya lebih tinggi dari teman-temannya.
