Abstract

Kemampuan mengenal konsep bilangan sangat penting dikuasai oleh anak sejak dini, sebab akan menjadi dasar bagi penguasaan konsep matematika selanjutnya di jenjang pendidikan berikutnya. Namun pada kenyataan nya sebagian anak hanya menghafal nama dan urutan bilangan saja tanpa memahami konsep bilangan itu sendiri. Selain itu anak belum optimal dalam mencocokkan bilangan dengan lambang bilangan, belum mampu dan kesulitan dalam membuat kumpulan benda yang sama atau tidak sama jumlahnya, lebih sedikit dan lebih banyak serta membedakan dua kumpulan benda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh domino card bergambar terhadap kemampuan mengenal konsep bilangan anak usia 5-6 tahun. Penelitian ini dilakukan di TK Negeri Pembina Kota Cilegon Banten dengan metode penelitian kuasi eksperimen model nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 34 anak usia 5-6 tahun yang terbagi menjadi dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pedoman observasi dan dokumentasi untuk mencatat kegiatan yang terjadi selama perlakuan diberikan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan mengenal konsep bilangan kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol memiliki perbedaan skor sebesar 6,83. Dengan Skor rata-rata kelas eksperimen 73,59 dan kelas kontrol 66,76. Ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan mengenal konsep bilangan di kelas eksperimen lebih besar dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan domino card bergambar terhadap kemampuan mengenal konsep bilangan anak usia 5-6 tahun.

Additional Information: The ability to recognize the concept of numbers is prominent to be mastered by children since an early age as it sets the stage for later mathematics concepts at the next level of education. Nevertheless, the apparent condition shows that some children merely memorize numbers and their sequence without understanding the concepts. In addition, some children have not been able to associate number quantities with the written symbol for the number, have difficulties to make a collection of objects that are equal or different in quantities, and to distinguish which collection has more or less quantities than the others. This research aims at understanding the effectiveness of using pictured domino cards on the ability to recognize the concept of numbers of children aged 5 – 6 years. This research is carried out at a state kindergarten TK Negeri Pembina Cilegon Banten using a quasi-experimental research design with Non-equivalent control group model. The samples of the research are 34 children aged 5 – 6 years which are divided into an experiment and control group class. The instruments employed in this research are observation and documentation to record all research activities. The results of analysis reveal that the ability to recognize the concept of numbers between experiment and control group class differs at 6.38 where the average scores are 73.59 and 66.76 respectively. This suggests that the experiment group class has better ability to recognize the concept of numbers than the control one. In conclusion, there is a significant effect of using pictured domino cards on the ability to recognize the concept of numbers of children aged 5-6 years.
