Additional Information: The objective of this research was to find out whether there is a significant correlation between students’ simple present tense mastery towards their descriptive text writing ability at the tenth grade students of SMAN 5 Kota Serang. The population of this research was all the tenth grade students of class MIPA in SMAN 5 Kota Serang. The sample of this research was chosen based on cluster random sampling. The class was X MIPA 6 consists of 30 students. The researcher used quantitative research by applying correlational and ex post facto design for conducted the research. The result of the data: Coefficient determination = 0,749, t-count = 5.84, the hypothesis testing = 0,866. It showed that simple present tense mastery had a strong correlation with students’ descriptive text writing ability. In conclusion, the researcher concluded that there was a significant correlation between students’ simple present tense mastery towards their descriptive text writing ability at the tenth grade students of SMAN 5 Kota Serang.
