Additional Information: The aim of this research is to find out the types of illocutionary act in the utterance of meaning question that mostly answered incorrectly by the students and to describe the imply meaning of the utterance in meaning question type that mostly answered incorrectly by the students related to their response in answering the meaning question on Longman Complete Course for TOEFL Test: Listening Diagnostic PreTest Part A (Paper Test). This research employed qualitative method, particularly content analysis. The instruments of this research were human instrument, documentation and questionnaire. The data collected by the researcher from the result of the students’ test in listening for TOEFL test. The result of the students’ test shows that the most questions that answered incorrectly by the students were number 24, 11, 2, 25, 28, 9, 8, 6, 3, and 29 which is categorized into the meaning question type. The types of illocutionary acts found in this research data are Assertives, Directives, and Expressive. The most common implied meanings in the utterances of the data can be described in the form of giving information, expressing feelings, and instructing the interlocutor to take some action.
