Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kelayakan isi dalam buku teks bahasa Inggris berdasarkan kurikulum 2013 yang digunakan oleh siswa kelas dua Sekolah Menengah Atas. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dan dilakukan dengan menggunakan desain analisis isi. Peneliti meggunakan rubrik penilaian yang disediakan oleh BSNP (Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan). Agar rubrik yang digunakan sesuai dengan penelitian ini, peneliti mengintegrasikannya dengan skala Likert. Data penelitian diambil dari buku teks yang digunakan oleh siswa kelas dua Sekolah Menengah Atas yang merupakan publikasi dari Intan Pariwara. Penulis menganalisis buku teks pada semester 2. Buku teks ini berisi 4 bab. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hanya 21 dari 32 bab yang telah memenuhi kriteria yang dibutuhkan dalam kurikulum 2013. Yang berarti bahwa hanya 65,6% bahan ajar dalam buku teks Bahasa Inggris diterima dan bagus tetapi membutuhkan lebih banyak pertimbangan dalam berbagai aspek yang dibutuhkan sebelum menggunakannya. Pertimbangan yang perlu lebih banyak perhatian adalah pengembangan kriteria wawasan keanekaragaman dalam buku ini. Adapun, hasil dari validator menunjukkan bahwa hanya 62,5% bahan ajar dalam buku teks Bahasa Inggris diterima dan bagus. Karena perbedaan hasil persentase dari peneliti dan validator yang tidak signifikan, berarti penelitian ini bersifat valid.

Additional Information: The purpose of this research is to describe the feasibility of contents in English textbook in reference to the 2013 syllabus used by second-grade students of Senior High School. The research use a descriptive qualitative approach and is carried out using a content analysis design. The researcher used the assessment rubric provided by BSNP (Education National Standard Council). In order for the rubric to be used in accordance with this research, the researcher integrated it with a Likert scale. The research data was taken from the textbook used by the secondgrade students of Senior High School which is a publication from Intan Pariwara. The researcher analyze the textbook in semester 2. This textbook contains 4 chapters. The results showed that only 21 of the 32 chapters have met the criteria required in the 2013 syllabus, which means that only 65.6% of the teaching materials in English textbooks are accepted and good but needed more consideration in various aspects needed before using them. A consideration that needs more attention is the development of diversity insight criteria in this textbook. Meanwhile, the result of the validator showed that only 62.5% of the teaching materials in English textbooks are accepted and good. Because the difference in the percentage result by the researcher and the validator is not significant, it means that this research is valid.
