Abstract

Additional Information: The three-phase induction motor is one of the most widely used types of motors because of its strong construction, high power production and easy maintenance. To improve the performance of a three-phase induction motor, Field Oriented Control (FOC) can be used as a current control, and the speed sensor can be estimated by speed estimates in the form of an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). This study, was designed to speed sensorless a three-phase induction motor using an Extended Kalman Filter estimator. Comparing the results of the estimated speed motor and electromagnetic torque that is formed between the speed of a three-phase induction motor using a speed sensor or EKF. The comparison results are also carried out with changes in the reference speed and changes in load torque, which are varied, namely 1000 rpm, 500 rpm, and 1500 rpm for changes in the reference speed and 0 Nm, 400 Nm, and 200 Nm for changes in load torque. The comparison results, it is found that the speed of a three-phase induction motor using a speed sensor or EKF is able to estimate the motor speed well despite changes in speed or changes in load torque.
