Additional Information: Sargassum a type of seaweed from a group of brown algae (Phaeophyceae) which has potential resources scattered in tropical waters, including in Banten Province. An abundance of Sargassum can be used as a bioactive compound, because Sargassum has a fairly good bioactive compound and has the potential as a natural antioxidant. This research aims to determine the content of phytochemical compounds and determine the antioxidant activity of Sargassum seaweed in Cimandiri Waters, Lebak Regency, Banten Province. This research was implemented in May - August 2020 at the Laboratory of Fisheries Product Processing Technology, Fisheries Science Department University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Feed Science and Technology Laboratory and the Center for Chemical Analysis Bogor Agricultural University. This study was using descriptive method. Data is processed by tables and diagrams. Proximat and phytochemical analyses are showed on tables and antioxidant analysis by linear regression. The results of phytochemical test research on Sargassum seaweed extracts were positive for flavonoids, phenolics, saponins, steroids and triterpenoids. The antioxidant activity test was tested with a concentration of 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 ppm. The method used in testing antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. The results of the antioxidant activity test on Sargassum polycystum obtained IC50 values of 1223.79±4.37 mg/mL, Sargassum duplicatum obtained IC50 values of 277.86 ± 8.52 mg/mL and Sargassum muticum values obtained IC50 values of 544.09 ± 2.45 mg/mL. The result showed that the antioxidant activity test on Sargassum seaweed is classified as very weak.
