Abstract

ABSTRACT Carbon Dots is a type of carbon that in fluorescent materials includes chemical and biocompatibility. C-dots are 2-10 nm in size, have amorphous structure, are spherical in shape and have high attractiveness due to their environmentally friendly synthesis process (green synthesis method). Generally, the synthesis of C-dots involves carbonization of the carbon source. Among the different resources, natural resources are widely accepted as environmentally friendly raw materials, which has the great advantage of being simple, repeatable, environmentally friendly and cost-effective for the synthesis of C-dots. Therefore, many attempts have been made to synthesize C-dots from abundant natural resources (green synthesis). In this study, the synthesis of C-dots made from organic waste from melinjo skin will be carried out using the bottom up method, namely microwave irradiation. The researcher chose the synthesis method with the bottom up technique because of the higher success rate and convenience when compared to the top-down method. The samples used for characterization were 2 samples with 2 variations of synthesis time. The results of the synthesis will be characterized using a uv-vis spectrometer. The two Cdots samples that have been successfully characterized have absorbance peaks at wavelengths of 364-367 . Keywords: C-dots, Melinjo skin waste, Synthesis

Additional Information: ABSTRAK Carbon Dots merupakan jenis karbon yang termasuk dalam material berpendar dengan stabilitas kimia dan biokompatibilitas. C-dots berukuran 2-10 nm, berstruktur amorf,berbentuk bola dan memiliki daya pikat yang tinggi karena proses sintesisnya yang ramah lingkungan (green synthesis methods). Umumnya, sintesis C-dots melibatkan karbonisasi sumber karbon. Di antara sumber daya yang berbeda, sumber alami diterima secara luas sebagai bahan baku ramah lingkungan (green precursor), yang memiliki keuntungan besar karena sederhana, dapat diulang, ramah lingkungan, dan hemat biaya untuk sintesis C-dots. Oleh karena itu, banyak upaya telah dilakukan untuk mensintesis C-dots dari sumber daya alam yang melimpah (green synthesis). Pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan sintesis C-dots berbahan dasar limbah organic kulit melinjo dengan metode bottom up yaitu iradiasi gelombang mikro. Peneliti memilih metode sintesis dengan teknik bottom up karena tingkat keberhasilan dan kemudahan yang lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan metode top-down. Sampel yang digunakan untuk karakterisasi sebanyak 2 sampel dengan 2 variasi waktu sintesis. Hasil sintesis tersebut akan dikarakterisasi menggunakan spectrometer uv-vis. Kedua sampel Cdots yang telah berhasil dikarakterisasi memiliki puncak absorbansi pada panjang gelombang 364-367 . Kata Kunci : C-dots, Limbah kulit melinjo, Sintesis
