Abstract
The goal of the study was to gather empirical data on how the three-step interview method affected students' speaking abilities. To achieve this goal, this research employed a quasi-experiment design involving the students from SMAN 1 Warunggunung in the tenth grade. The sample consisted of 68 students who were divided into the experimental and controls classes using the purposive sampling technique. Meanwhile, the result of the post-test score revealed that the score of the experimental class was significantly higher than controlled class. The result showed that the sig (2-tailed) was p (0.025). Meanwhile the alpha (α) was 0.05, which was 0,025< 0.05, and it was also supported by the result of effect size which was 0.73 at a moderate level (significance). It proved that applying three steps interview technique was effective in improving students’ speaking skills at tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Warunggunung in the academic year 2021/2022.
