Abstract

Red seaweed (red algae) is one of the potential macroalgae that is a volatile bioactive compound that can benefit the antioxidant. Gelidium sp., Gracilaria sp., and Mastocarpus sp. are thought to have a natural antioxidant activity that can be used in place of synthetic antioxidants. Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit free radicals that benefit the body. The study is to evaluate the compound's bioactive and antioxidal activity on the red algae of the Cimandiri Beach, Lebak, Banten. The study has been carried out from May to August 2020. Samples of algae are taken in the Cimandiri Beach, the Situregen urban village, Panggarangan sub district, Lebak district of Banten province. Process and analysis of antioxidant activity are carried out in the laboratory of fisheries technology processing, the program of fisheries sciences, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. The Test proximate and phytochemistry were carried out at the food department of agriculture and the chemical analysis laboratory Faculty of Math and Science of IPB University. The result of this study, Gelidium sp., Gracilaria sp., and Mastocarpus sp. qualify as the raw material of dry seaweed based on National Standard Indonesia. Gelidium sp., Gracilaria sp., and Mastocarpus sp. have been detected with bioactive substances such as alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, triterpenoid, and steroids. The antioxidant activity on Gelidium sp., Gracilaria sp. and Mastocarpus sp. were detected extremely weak IC50>200 ppm, Gelidium sp. obtained 1179.7±2.40 µg/ml, Gracilaria sp. 1286.9±3.97 µg/ml and Mastocarpus sp. 2014.6±2.13 µg/ml.
