Abstract

Water is a natural resource that is very important for life on earth, especially for humans and other living things. Not a few areas in Indonesia that have water that is not suitable for use due to water pollution and limited water sources. Distillation is an effective way to produce clean water that is free from impurities in the form of small solids, germs and bacteria. One type of distillation apparatus is a solar-based distillation apparatus. However, the use of these tools still has a fairly low tool productivity. There are several ways to increase the productivity of solar distillation equipment, one of which is by adding thermal energy storage material in the form of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) nanoparticles. The method used in this study is an experimental method, namely by comparing a solar distillation apparatus without the addition of Al2O3 nanoparticles with a solar distillation apparatus with variations in the addition of a heavy concentration of Al2O3 nanoparticles 10; 15; 20%. So that it can be seen the effect of the addition of Al2O3 nanoparticles on the productivity and efficiency of a single slope solar distillator. Based on the test results of a solar distillation apparatus with the addition of a heavy concentration of Al2O3 nanoparticles 10; 15; 20%, productivity increased by 44.73%, 88.98% and 134.85%, respectively. While the increase in the efficiency of the solar distillation apparatus with the addition of a heavy concentration of Al2O3 nanoparticles 10; 15; 20% respectively 10.37%, 21.18% and 33.80%.

Additional Information: Air merupakan sumber daya alam yang sangat penting bagi kehidupan di bumi terutama bagi manusia dan makhluk hidup lainnya. Tidak sedikit daerah - daerah di Indonesia yang memiliki air tidak layak pakai dikarenakan terjadinya pencemaran air dan terbatasnya sumber mata air. Distilasi merupakan cara yang efektif untuk menghasilkan air bersih yang terbebas dari kotoran berupa padatan kecil, kuman dan bakteri. Salah satu jenis alat distilasi yaitu alat distilasi berbasis tenaga surya. Akan tetapi, penggunaan alat tersebut masih memiliki produktivitas alat yang cukup rendah. Ada beberapa cara untuk meningkatkan produktivitas alat distilasi tenaga surya yaitu salah satunya dengan cara menambahkan material thermal energy storage berupa nanopartikel aluminium oksida (Al2O3). Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental, yaitu dengan cara membandingkan alat distilasi tenaga surya tanpa penambahan nanopartikel Al2O3 dengan alat distilasi tenaga surya dengan variasi penambahan konsentrasi berat nanopartikel Al2O3 10; 15; 20%. Sehingga dapat diketahui pengaruh penambahan nanopartikel Al2O3 terhadap produktivitas dan efisiensi pada single slope solar destilator. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian alat distilasi tenaga surya dengan penambahan konsentrasi berat nanopartikel Al2O3 10; 15; 20%, produktivitas meningkat secara berturut - turut sebesar 44,73%, 88,98% dan 134,85%. Sedangkan peningkatan efisiensi alat distilasi tenaga surya dengan penambahan konsentrasi berat nanopartikel Al2O3 10; 15; 20% secara berturut - turut sebesar 10,37%, 21,18% dan 33,80%.
