Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out whether there is an influence towards students’ listening ability after learning through Audiobooks or not, especially in listening to a narrative text. This research used quantitative method with experimental design. The population of this research were all of tenth grade students in SMAN 1 Waringinkurung school year 2022/2023. The samples of this research were the students of X Science 1 and X Social 3. The samples were choosen by using simple random sampling method. In collecting the data, the researcher conducted pretest and posttest that consisted of 20 questions in for of multiple choices. While in analyzing the data, the researcher used Mann-Whitney Test. The calculation result showed that the tcount (0.000) is lower than ttable (0.05). The null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Therefore, it can be conclude that using audiobooks is giving an influence towards students’ listening ability, especially in learning narrative text. Additional Information: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh terhadap kemampuan mendengarkan siswa setelah belajar melalui Buku Audio atau tidak, terutama di mendengarkan teks naratif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimental. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X di SMAN 1 Waringinkurung tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa X IPA 1 dan X Sosial 3. Sampel dipilih oleh menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti dilakukan pretest dan posttest yang terdiri dari 20 soal yang di bagi kelipatan pilihan. Sedangkan dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan Mann-Whitney Test. Itu hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa thitung (0,000) lebih rendah dari ttabel (0,05). Nol hipotesis (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (H1) diterima. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan audiobook memberikan pengaruh terhadap kemampuan menyimak siswa, khususnya dalam pembelajaran teks naratif.
