Abstract

Underwater welding is one of the methods used in corrective maintenance in pipeline structures and offshore buildings, while one of the problems that occurs in Underwater wet welding is the heat input factor in underwater welding where in the Underwater wet welding process when welding is coated with cooling which quickly causes the stability of the arc to carry out metallurgical transfer to the seam area of the weld joint is disturbed and special electrodes for underwater welding are relatively expensive. In this study we conducted tests with variations of heat input of 11.31 kJ/mm, 15.44 kJ/mm and 19.33 kJ/mm, using the Underwater wet welding process using an electrode coating. The results for the heat input tensile strength test were 19.33 kJ/mm of 491.065 MPa, for the impact test at 11.31 kJ/mm heat input a value of 0.4793 kJ/mm2 was obtained and the largest average hardness value was for the weld metal area ie 15.44 kJ/mm heat input of 175.98 HV, HAZ area 15.44 kJ/mm heat input of 223.35 HV and base metal area of 19.33 kJ/mm heat input of 184.525 HV.
