Abstract
Soil is the basis for the construction of roads, buildings, dams and embankments. The construction activities carried out cannot be separated from the earthworks which are the basis for the establishment of infrastructure in almost all places. In the case study, clay soil of Juhut Village, Pandeglang Regency was stabilized with sawdust ash with meranti wood species and different percentages of variation on the value of clay characteristics. This research was conducted in a laboratory with samples of specimens using a mixture of soil and wood ash percentage 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%. The physical and mechanical properties of this study were tested for grain size, Atterberg limits, specific gravity (Gs), density tests, and unconfined compression test value (UCT). The results of the analysis show that the soil of Kampung Juhut is clay soil with medium to high plasticity (OH) based on the USCS classification. With the addition of wood ash variations, the optimum value of unconfined compression test with a variation of 15% wood ash for 28 days of curing was 3,790 kg/cm2. Meanwhile, the liquid limit value and the plasticity index value decreased by 53% and 7%. Based on research and testing, the addition of wood ash can improve soil subgrade.

Additional Information: | Tanah merupakan dasar perletakan kontruksi jalan, bangunan, bendungan dan tanggul. Kegiatan konstruksi yang dilakukan tidak dapat lepas dari pekerjaan tanah yang menjadi dasar berdirinya infrastruktur hampir semua tempat. Dalam studi kasus tanah lempung Kampung Juhut, Kabupaten Pandeglang yang distabilisasi dengan abu limbah gergaji kayu dengan jenis kayu meranti dan persentase variasi yang berbeda terhadap nilai karakakteristik tanah lempung. Penelitian ini dilakukan di laboratorium dengan sampel benda uji menggunakan campuran tanah dan persentase abu kayu, yaitu: 0%, 5%, 10%, dan 15%. Sifat fisik dan mekanis dari penelitian ini dilakukan tes ukuran butir, batas-batas atterberg, berat jenis (Gs), tes kepadatan, dan tes kuat tekan bebas (UCT). Hasil analisa menunjukan bahwa tanah Kampung Juhut termasuk tanah lempung dengan plastisitas sedang hingga tinggi (OH) berdasarkan klasifikasi USCS. Pada penambahan variasi abu kayu diperoleh nilai optimum kuat tekan bebas dengan variasi 15% abu kayu selama 28 hari pemeraman sebesar 3,790 kg/cm2. Sedangkan nilai batas cair dan nilai indeks plastisitas turun sebesar 53% dan 7%. Berdasarkan penelitian dan pengujian penambahan abu kayu dapat memperbaiki subgrade tanah. | |||||||||
