Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the effect of using self-talk strategy trough vlog to enhance students‟ speaking skill at senior hugh school in Tirtayasa, Serang. The researcher used quantitative research implementing quasi- experimental design as the research method. To get the data, the researcher used speaking test as the instrument, consisted of pre-test and posttest. There were two classes involved in this research as the experimental class and control class. Each class consisted of 20 students. Hypothesis testing revealed that value of t-test was higher than the value of t-table (19.8 > 2.0244). It indicated the null hypothesis is rejected but the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Applying vlog in the teaching learning process of speaking, the researcher revealed that there was significant influence of students writing skill. In conclusion, self-talk strategy through vlog have significant effect towards students‟ speaking skill and the students showed positive attitudes toward self-talk strategy for teaching speaking.
