Abstract
Periphyton is microscopic organisms that attach to substrate, object, or remain on the surface of the substrate. Periphyton can be called a water bioindicator. Ciherang lake is a strategic zone to be used as a research place on the effect of water quality on the composition of periphyton because the waters occur human activities which will certainly affect the presence of periphyton. The study aimed to analyze the water quality effect on the presence of periphyton in the waters of Ciherang lake. The research was carried out for 30 days with 4 repetitions taken per 10 days at 6 samplings. The observation station is determined by the purposive sampling method. The sample was brought and identified in the laboratory. The periphyton sample obtained was then observed using a microscope and identified by the identification book (looking at the physical structure of each of the periphyton microalgae found). Water quality samples are analyzed on-site including temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), and brightness. The highest abundance occurred at station 2 with a total value of 12,117.5 cells/cm2 and the lowest abundance occurred at station 6 with a total value of 20,820 cells/cm2. During the sampling, the most common types of periphyton found at each station were Arcella crenulata and Euglena spp. species. The correlation index between variables with water quality parameters had a negative correlation between temperature, DO, and pH, and also a positive correlation with brightness parameters.

Additional Information: | Perifiton adalah organisme mikroskopis yang menempel pada substrat, benda, atau tetap berada di permukaan substrat. Perifiton bisa disebut sebagai bioindikator air. Telaga Ciherang merupakan zona strategis untuk dijadikan tempat penelitian pengaruh kualitas air terhadap komposisi perifiton karena di perairan tersebut terjadi aktivitas manusia yang tentunya akan mempengaruhi keberadaan perifiton. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kualitas air terhadap keberadaan perifiton di perairan Danau Ciherang. Penelitian dilakukan selama 30 hari dengan 4 kali pengulangan yang dilakukan setiap 10 hari dengan 6 kali pengambilan sampel. Stasiun pengamatan ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Sampel dibawa dan diidentifikasi di laboratorium. Sampel perifiton yang diperoleh kemudian diamati menggunakan mikroskop dan diidentifikasi dengan buku identifikasi (melihat struktur fisik dari masing-masing mikroalga perifiton yang ditemukan). Sampel kualitas air dianalisis di tempat termasuk suhu, pH, oksigen terlarut (DO), dan kecerahan. Kelimpahan tertinggi terjadi pada stasiun 2 dengan nilai total 12.117,5 sel/cm2 dan kelimpahan terendah terjadi pada stasiun 6 dengan nilai total 20.820 sel/cm2. Selama pengambilan sampel, jenis perifiton yang paling banyak ditemukan di setiap stasiun adalah Arcella crenulata dan Euglena spp. jenis. Indeks korelasi antara variabel dengan parameter kualitas air memiliki korelasi negatif antara suhu, DO, dan pH, serta korelasi positif dengan parameter kecerahan. | |||||||||
