Abstract

Milkfish is widely cultivated in various areas including in the brackish waters of Indonesia. Milkfish innards contain various nutritional elements such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) and calcium (Ca), so they have potential as fertilizer raw materials. Struvite has the qualities of a fertilizer with a slow release method or Slow Release Fertilizer , which is that it can release nutrients more slowly into the soil so that plants can absorb the fertilizer better. The formulation of the problem in this study is how much and how is the process of the levels of N and P elements in milkfish offal waste into struvite and what is the physical and chemical character of struvite. The purpose of this study was to analyze quantitatively the N and P elements in milkfish viscera waste, to process milkfish viscera waste for the formation of struvite and to characterize the physicochemical properties of struvite. The research method used is based on experimental methods including sample selection and preparation, analysis of phosphorus and nitrogen, extraction and crystallization of phosphate and nitrogen into struvite, and physicochemical analysis of the resulting struvite. The results of this study, namely a qualitative analysis of the elements of N and P in milkfish offal waste, obtained 0.63% of N elements and 0.000969% of phosphorus in milkfish offal waste. At pH 10 shows the optimum pH variation and at 3:3:3 molar variation shows the optimum molar variation. Then, for the release of nitrogen elements in this study using the Kjeldahl method by carrying out 3 stages, namely the stages of destruction, distillation, and titration. As well as for the release of phosphorus, the dervish method is used by means of extraction by immersing the sample in a solution of H2SO4. The physical and chemical properties of struvite produced from the use of milkfish offal waste are, among others: the fertilizer produced in the physical form of granules (powder), mass weight of 18.54 g, has a bluish color, quite easily soluble in water. Additional Information: Bandeng banyak dibudidayakan di berbagai daerah yang memiliki perairan payau di Indonesia termasuk di Provinsi Banten. Jeroan ikan bandeng memiliki kandungan berbagai unsur nutrisi seperti nitrogen (N), fosfor (P), dan kalium (K) dan kalsium (Ca), sehingga memiliki potensi sebagai bahan baku pupuk. Struvit memiliki kualitas seperti pupuk dengan metode lepas lambat atau Slow Realease Fertilizer yakni dapat melepaskan nutrisi-nutrisi lebih lambat kedalam tanah sehingga tanaman dapat menyerap pupuk itu dengan lebih baik. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini yaitu seberapa besar dan bagaimana proses kadar unsur N dan P dalam limbah jeroan ikan bandeng menjadi struvit serta bagaimana karakter fisika kimia struvit. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisa secara kuantitatif unsur N dan P dalam limbah jeroan ikan bandeng, mengolah limbah jeroan ikan bandeng untuk pembentukan struvit serta mengkarakterisasi sifat fisika kimia struvit. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu berdasarkan metode eksperimental anatara lain pemilihan dan preparasi sampel, analisa fosfor dan nitrogen, ekstraksi dan kristalisasi fosfat dan nitrogen menjadi struvit, dan analisa fisika kimia struvit yang dihasilkan. Hasil dari penelitian ini yakni analisa secara kualitatif unsur N dan P pada limbah jeroan ikan bandeng didapatkan sebesar 0,63% unsur N dan sebesar 0,000969% unsur fosfor pada limbah jeroan ikan bandeng. Pada pH 10 menunjukkan hasil variasi pH optimum dan pada variasi molar 3:3:3 menunjukkan hasil variasi molar optimum. Lalu, untuk pelepasan unsur nitrogen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kjeldahl dengan melakukan 3 tahap yakni tahap destruksi, destilasi, dan titrasi. Serta untuk pelepasan unsur fosfor digunakan metode darwis dengan cara ekstraksi yakni merendam sampel pada larutan H2SO4. Sifat fisika kimia dari struvit yang dihasilkan dari penggunaan limbah jeroan ikan bandeng yaitu antara lain: pupuk yang dihasilkan berbentuk fisik berupa granula (serbuk), berat massa 18,54 gr, memiliki warna kebiruan, cukup mudah larut dalam air.
