Abstract

Soil is the place where a building or structure is built in the form of a building or road structure. The bearing capacity of a soil greatly affects the treatment of the structure to be built on it. Based on the Dynamic Cone Penetration test, the soil condition on the Kampung Juhut road, Karangtanjung District, Pandeglang Regency has a California Bearing Ratio value of 3.1%, this value is still below the standard for subgrade road pavement structures, which is 5%, so it needs to be stabilized. The type of soil at this location is clay soil which has high plasticity, so the authors chose beach sand as a stabilizer because it has properties that are opposite to clay. This study is intended to indentify the soil classification, physical properties of the soil and the effect of adding beach sand to the physical properties and bearing capacity of the soil on the value of the free compressive strength (UCT) of the original soil and after the soil stabilization process. The stabilization process was carried out by mixing clay with beach sand at variations of 12%, 24%, 36% and curing time for UCT test samples for 0 days, 7 days, 14 days, 28 days. The results showed that the original soil classification based on the USCS classification included OH or organic clay with high to moderate plasticity, the value of the soil plasticity index decreased from the initial value of 22.86% to 9.49% with the addition of 36% beach sand. The result of adding a variation of 36% beach sand obtained the maximum free compressive strength value from 1.1185 kg/cm2 to 3,349 kg/cm2 at 28 days of curing. So from the results of the study it can be concluded that beach sand can be used as a soil stabilization material because it can reduce the level of soil plasticity and increase the carrying capacity of the soil. Additional Information: Tanah merupakan tempat untuk suatu bangunan atau struktur didirikan baik berbentuk bangunan maupun struktur jalan. Daya dukung dari suatu tanah sangat berpengaruh pada perlakuan terhadap struktur yang akan dibangun diatasnya. Berdasarkan tes Dynamic Cone Penetration Kondisi tanah pada jalan Kampung Juhut Kecamatan Karangtanjung Kabupaten Pandeglang memiliki nilai California Bearing Ratio sebesar 3,1% nilai ini masih dibawah standard untuk tanah dasar struktur perkerasan jalan yaitu 5% sehingga perlu dilakukan stabilisasi. Jenis tanah pada lokasi tersebut merupakan tanah lempung yang memiliki plastisitas tinggi sehingga penulis memilih pasir pantai sebagai bahan stabilisasi karena memiliki sifat yang berlawanan dengan tanah lempung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui klasifikasi tanah, sifat fisik tanah dan pengaruh dari penambahan pasir pantai terhadap sifat fisik dan daya dukung tanahnya terhadap nilai kuat tekan bebas (UCT) tanah asli dan setelah proses stabilisasi tanah. Proses stabilisasi dilakukan dengan cara pencampuran tanah lempung dengan pasir pantai pada variasi 12%, 24%, 36% serta waktu pemeraman sampel uji UCT selama 0 hari, 7 hari, 14 hari, 28 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukan klasifikasi tanah asli berdasarkan klasifikasi USCS termasuk pada OH atau tanah lempung organik berplastisitas tinggi hingga sedang, nilai indeks plastisitas tanah menurun dari nilai awalnya 22,86% menjadi 9,49% pada penambahan pasir pantai 36%. Hasil penambahan pasir pantai variasi 36% didapatkan nilai maksimum kuat tekan bebas dari 1,1185 kg/cm2 menjadi 3,349 kg/cm2 pada pemeraman 28 hari. Sehingga dari hasil penelitian bisa disimpulkan bahwa pasir pantai bisa dijadikan sebagai bahan stabilisasi tanah karena bisa menurunkan tingkat plastisitas tanah dan meningkatkan daya dukung tanah.
