Abstract

Plastic waste is a polymer material that is difficult to process. A lot of plastic waste management has been done to reduce plastic waste that accumulates in the landfill. Various plastic waste management that has been carried out can potentially produce waste and emissions that have an impact on the environment, so it is necessary to carry out an assessment of the environmental impact of plastic waste management using the Life Cycle Assessment method. The stages of Life Cycle Assessment are goal and scope definition, inventory analysis, impact assessment and interpretation. This study aims to determine the selected scenario in the circular economy-based plastic waste management in Cilegon City to reduce the overall environmental impact. The scenarios compared are the existing conditions with plastic waste management into Plas BBM, scenario 1 with plastic waste management being Refuse Derived Fuel and scenario 2 with plastic waste management being paving blocks. The results of the study show that the impact assessment values generated sequentially are 1,763.60 points, 10,317.91 points, and 2,164.46 points. It is concluded that the selected scenario in plastic waste management to reduce environmental impact is seen based on the smallest environmental impact value, namely the existing condition by managing plastic waste into Plas BBM through the pyrolysis process with a value of 1,763.60 points.

Additional Information: Sampah plastik merupakan bahan polimer yang sulit diolah. Pengelolaan sampah plastik telah banyak dilakukan untuk mengurangi sampah plastik yang menumpuk di TPA. Berbagai pengelolaan sampah plastik yang telah dilakukan dapat berpotensi menghasilkan limbah dan emisi yang berdampak kepada lingkungan, sehingga perlu dilakukannya penilaian atas dampak lingkungan dari pengelolaan sampah plastik menggunakan metode Life Cycle Assessment. Tahapan Life Cycle Assessment yaitu goal and scope definition, inventory analysis, impact assessment dan interpretation. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan skenario terpilih dalam pengelolaan sampah plastik berbasis circular economy di Kota Cilegon untuk mengurangi dampak lingkungan secara menyeluruh. Skenario yang dibandingkan yaitu kondisi eksisting dengan pengelolaan sampah plastik menjadi BBM Plas, skenario 1 dengan pengelolaan sampah plastik menjadi Refuse Derived Fuel dan skenario 2 dengan pengelolaan sampah plastik menjadi paving block. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai impact assessment yang dihasilkan secara berurutan yaitu 1.763,60 points, 10.317,91 points, dan 2.164,46 points. Disimpulkan bahwa skenario terpilih dalam pengelolaan sampah plastik untuk mengurangi dampak lingkungan dilihat berdasarkan nilai dampak lingkungan yang terkecil yaitu kondisi eksisting dengan pengelolaan sampah plastik menjadi BBM Plas melalui proses pirolisis dengan nilai 1.763,60 points.
