Abstract

The study aims to describe the psychology of the main character in several short stories by Valiant Budi. This research model is a descriptive qualitative study The data collection techniques used in this study are: library techniques, reading techniques, and record techniques. This research analysis used personality structure theory in the study of psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud. The data sources in this study are: “Serupa dan Separuh”, “Kunci Pencari Pintu”, “Centong Ajaib”, dan “Melupakan Pengingat Diri”. The research data are words, phrases, sentences, and discourse related to the personality structure of the main character in the story. Personality structure, id contains biological elements brought from birth including instinct. Id is the existence of a desire to avoid inconvenience and a desire to gain pleasure. Ego is an aspect of personality psychology that arises due to the need for living things to connect with reality well. Then superego is a representative of traditional values and ideals of society, therefore superego can also be considered a moral aspect of personality.

Additional Information:	Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan psikologi tokoh utama pada beberapa cerpen karya Valiant Budi. Model penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu: teknik kepustakaan, teknik baca, dan teknik catat. Analisis penelitian ini menggunakan teori struktur kepribadian dalam kajian psikoanalisis oleh Sigmund Freud. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini dari empat cerpen yaitu, “Serupa dan Separuh”, “Kunci Pencari Pintu”, “Centong Ajaib”, dan “Melupakan Pengingat Diri”. Data penelitian berupa kata, frasa, kalimat, dan wacana yang berkaitan dengan struktur kepribadian tokoh utama pada cerpen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan struktur kepribadian, id mengandung unsur-unsur biologis yang dibawa sejak lahir termasuk didalamnya insting. Id adalah adanya keinginan menghindar dari ketidaknyamanan dan adanya keinginan untuk memperoleh kenikmatan. Ego merupakan aspek psikologi kepribadian yang muncul karena kebutuhan makhluk hidup untuk berhubungan dengan realita secara baik. Lalu superego merupakan wakil dari nilai-nilai tradisional serta cita-cita masyarakat, karena itu superego dapat pula dianggap sebagai aspek moral kepribadian.
