Abstract

The machete receives a shock brunt in its use, both in cutting coconuts and in cutting animals. The strength of the machete to withstand shock loads is one of the things to worry about, because broken machete flakes can be left on animal meat and become food contaminants. As has been regulated in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18 of 2012 Article 1 paragraph 5 concerning food safety. The purpose of this study was to determine the resistance of a machete made of ballistic steel (AISI 4140) against brittleness when cutting bone, to determine the machinability and forging properties of a machete made of ballistic steel (AISI 4140), and to determine the accuracy of selecting ballistic steel (AISI 4140) as a material. machete material. The method used is an experiment. Ballistic steel raw material is forged until it becomes blade material which is then trimmed by grinding, and followed by quenching. The results of laboratory tests that have been carried out on machetes made of ballistic steel, obtained an average hardness value of 413.2 HV, an average value of max tensile strength of 917.5 Mpa, and an average value of 0.86 J/mm2 impact value. From the analysis of the numerical approach, it was found that the material hardness requirement for the blade angle of the machete, the blade angle of 14° requires a material hardness of 1141.77 Mpa. The machete made of ballistic steel (AISI 4140) does not have machinability but has malleability.

Additional Information: Golok menerima beban kejut dalam penggunaannya, baik dalam memotong kelapa maupun memotong hewan. Kekuatan golok dalam menahan beban kejut menjadi salah satu hal yang dikhawatirkan, karena serpihan golok yang patah dapat tertinggal pada daging hewan dan menjadi cemaran pangan. Sebagaimana telah diatur dalam undang-undang RI Nomor 18 Tahun 2012 pasal 1 ayat 5 tentang keamanan pangan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ketahanan golok bermaterial baja balistik (AISI 4140) terhadap getas saat menebas tulang, mengetahui sifat mampu mesin dan mampu tempa pada golok bermaterial baja balistik (AISI 4140), dan mengetahui ketepatan pemilihan material baja balistik (AISI 4140) sebagai material golok. Metode yang digunakan merupakan eksperimen. Raw material baja balistik dilakukan penempaan sampai menjadi bahan bilah yang kemudian dirapihkan dengan grinding, dan dilanjutkan quenching. Hasil pengujian lab yang telah dilakukan pada golok bermaterial baja balistik, didapat rata-rata nilai kekerasan pada 413,2 HV, nilai rata-rata max tensile strength 917,5 Mpa, dan nilai rata-rata harga impak 0,86 J/mm2. Dari Analisa pendekatan numerical didapatkan kebutuhan kekerasan material terhadap sudut mata golok, sudut mata golok 14° membutuhkan kekerasan material 1141,77 Mpa. Golok bermaterial baja balistik (AISI 4140) tidak memiliki sifat mampu mesin tetapi memiliki mampu tempa.
