Abstract
Limonite nickel ore is a low-grade nickel ore that has the potential to be further utilized as a major alternative in nickel production, so it is necessary to carry out a process that can increase the grade of limonite nickel ore because it has the potential to be a raw material for nickel production in the future. Limonite nickel ore can be processed through reduction roasting and leaching processes. Reduction roasting is done to change the ore compound so that it is easily dissolved in the next process. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a hydrometallurgical process as a follow-up process by carrying out a leaching process with ammonia ammonium carbonate leaching agent to make the extraction process becomes more effective. This study aims to examine the effect of time, Solid/Liquid ratio, and aeration on the percentage of Ni extraction in the leaching process of limonite nickel ore with ammonia ammonium carbonate. The leaching time variations used were 60, 120, 180, and 240 minutes with variations in the S/L ratio of 10:100, 15:100, and 20:100 gr/ml which were leached without aeration and with aeration. The filtrate from the leaching process was analyzed using the ICP-OES instrument to determine the level of Ni obtained. The highest Ni extraction percentage of 98.3% was obtained under leaching process conditions without aeration with an S/L ratio of 15:100 gr/ml for 240 minutes.

Additional Information: | Bijih nikel limonit merupakan bijih nikel berkadar rendah yang memiliki potensi untuk dimanfaatkan lebih lanjut sebagai alternatif utama dalam produksi nikel sehingga perlu dilakukan proses yang dapat menaikkan kadar pada bijih nikel limonit karena berpotensi menjadi bahan baku produksi nikel di masa depan. Bijih nikel limonit dapat di proses melalui reduction roasting dan proses leaching. Reduction roasting dilakukan untuk mengubah senyawa bijih supaya mudah larut dalam proses selanjutnya. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan proses hidrometalurgi sebagai proses lanjutan dengan melakukan proses leaching dengan leaching agent ammonia-ammonium karbonat sehingga proses ekstraksi menjadi lebih efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh waktu, rasio Solid/Liquid, serta aerasi terhadap persen ekstraksi Ni pada proses leaching bijih nikel limonit dengan leaching agent ammonia-ammonium karbonat. Variasi waktu leaching yang digunakan yaitu 60, 120, 180, dan 240 menit dengan variasi rasio S/L 10:100, 15:100, dan 20:100 gr/ml yang dilakukan proses leaching tanpa aerasi dan dengan aerasi. Filtrat hasil proses leaching dianalisis menggunakan instrumen ICP-OES untuk mengetahui kadar Ni yang diperoleh. Persen ekstraksi Ni tertinggi sebesar 98,3% diperoleh pada kondisi proses leaching tanpa aerasi dengan rasio S/L 15:100 gr/ml selama 240 menit. | |||||||||
