Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh lemahnya kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas IX SMPN 10 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran talking stick dan role playing terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas IX SMPN 10 Kota Serang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen yang bersifat kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX SMPN 10 Kota Serang yang berjumlah 328 orang. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak dua kelas, yaitu kelas IX F sebagai kelas kontrol dan IX G sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan jumlah siswa masing-masing sebanyak 20 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes berbicara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa rata-rata nilai pretes peserta di kelas eksperimen sebesar 67,65 dan postes sebesar 83,5, sedangkan rata-rata nilai pretes di kelas kontrol sebesar 65,65 dan postes sebesar 78,25. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat peningkatan nilai postes di kelas eksperimen yang memiliki selisih 5,25 poin dengan nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, yaitu 83,5 dan 78,25. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan, yakni nilai yang diperoleh siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model role playing lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran talking stick. Dengan demikian, untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara dalam menanggi sesuatu, model pembelajaran role playing lebih baik dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran talking stick.

| Additional Information: | This research was motivated by the weak speaking ability of grade IX students of SMPN 10 Kota Serang. This study aims to describe the difference in the effect of using the talking stick learning model and role playing on the speaking ability of class IX students of SMPN 10 Serang City. The research method used is a quantitative experimental method. The population in the study were all students of class IX SMPN 10 Kota Serang, totaling 328 people. The sample used was two classes, namely class IX F as the control class and IX G as the experimental class with 20 students each. The data collection technique used a speaking test. The results of this study indicate that the average pretest score of participants in the experimental class was 67,65 and post-test was 83,5, while the average pretest score in the control class was 65,65 and post-test was 78,25. Based on the results of the study, there was an increase in the post-test score in the experimental class which was 5,25 points different from the mean scores of the experimental class and control class, namely 83,5 and 78,25. These results indicate a significant difference, namely the value obtained by students after participating in learning using the role playing model is higher than using the talking stick learning model. Thus, to improve speaking skills in dealing with something, the role playing learning model is better than the talking stick learning model.
