Additional Information: The objective of this research was to find out the effect of Powton – based video learning toward writing skill of 8 th grade students of Junior High School in academic year 2020/2021. This research used quantitative method and quasi experimental design. The experimental class was taught by using Powtoon and the control class using Powerpoint Presentation. The samples of this research were VIII A as experimental design and VIII B as control class, each class consisted 30 students. The researcher used quantitative method and quasi experimental design as the research design. The data was collected by using test which consisted of pre-test and post-test. The result of the research showed that Powtoon gave significant effect towards students’ writing skill. It was indicated the value of t�test was higher than the value of t-table (15.926 ≥ 2.00) at the level of significant of a 0.05 and degree of freedom is 58. It means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected. From those findings, it could be concluded that there was significant effect of Powton – based video learning toward writing skill of 8 th grade students of Junior High School. The suggestion of this research, the teacher need to maintain Powtoon or other video learning, to help students’ understand the materials easily and increase their writing skill, to avoid boredom of the students in teaching process, and for the next researcher must be better and perfect than this research in conducting the treatment.
