Abstract

Berbicara disebut sebagai keterampilan produktif. Artinya keberhasilan pembelajaran bahasa diukur dari kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara dan mengungkapkan gagasan. Dengan aktif berbicara, sangat berguna untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa yang belajar bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing pertama. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan proses belajar mengajar dan untuk mengetahui kemajuan berbicara siswa melalui metode tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 2 Jayanti. Subjek penelitian ini adalah tiga puluh enam siswa kelas VII D. Dalam penelitian tindakan kelas, peneliti menggunakan tes awal untuk mengetahui kemampuan berbicara siswa sebelum perlakuan dan menggunakan tes setiap siklus untuk mengetahui kemajuan siswa dalam peningkatan setelah perlakuan. , tes yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data kuantitatif. Selanjutnya, peneliti menggunakan observasi dan dokumentasi untuk mengumpulkan data kualitatif. Nilai rata-rata pre test adalah 59,9 dimana tes siklus I adalah 71,1 dan tes siklus II adalah 77,11. Kemajuan berbicara siswa dalam peningkatan antara pre test dan test pada siklus I adalah 36,1%. Untuk tes antara siklus I ke siklus II adalah 38,9%. Hasil observasi adalah siswa aktif dan senang dalam pembelajaran berbicara melalui Communicative Language Teaching dalam diskusi kelompok. Beberapa siswa yang kurang memahami materi dapat bertanya kepada kelompoknya. Mereka juga tertarik untuk mendiskusikan materi dengan kelompoknya daripada mengerjakannya secara individu di SMPN 5 Pandeglang tahun ajaran 2017/2018.

Additional Information: Speaking is called as productive skill. It means the success of learning the language is measured from the students' ability to speak and express the ideas. By active speaking, it is very useful to increase students’ ability that learns English as a first foreign language. The objectives of this research are to describe the teaching learning process and to know the students’ speaking progress through the method. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Jayanti. The subjects were thirty six students of the seventh grade class D. In the classroom action research, the researcher used pre test to know students’ speaking ability before the treatment and used the test of each cycle to know students’ progress in improvement after the treatment, the test used to collect the quantitative data. Furthermore, the researcher used observation and documentation to collect the qualitative data. The mean score of pre test was 59,9 in which the test of first cycle was 71,1 and the test of second cycle was 77,11. The students’ speaking progress in improvement between pre test and test in first cycle was 36,1%. For the test between first cycle into second cycle was 38,9%. The result of observation was the students active and enjoyed in learning speaking through Communicative Language Teaching in group discussion. Some students who did not understand the material well could ask to their group. They also interested discussing the material with their group rather than doing individually of SMPN 5 Pandeglang in academic year 2017/2018.
