Abstract

Additional Information: | During the pandemic, the mass media were assumed to have depicted Covid-19 news with fear appeals to cause fear which leads to adaptive change, nevertheless the responses were diverse. The 2020 Unicef survey found that the youngest age group had the smallest percentage of practicing all three 3M behaviors. This phenomenon shows that awareness of the potential dangers of Covid-19 is still low. The approach used in this research is qualitative with the reception analysis method. This research found that: (1) There are three receptions: duration, data credibility, and warning surveillance. The majority of informants were in the dominant positions; (2) informants had experienced fear during the Covid-19 pandemic; and (3) the informants view on the dangers of Covid-19 and transition of fearful, are influenced by three: social stability, efficacy, and threat relevance.
