Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses, respon siswa dan peningkatan siswa dalam pemahaman membaca dan keterampilan menulis setelah belajar teks narasi dengan menggunakan web e-learning schoology di kelas sepuluh SMAN 14 Kota Tangerang. Penelitian ini merupakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan menerapkan desain penelitian tindakan kelas. Peneliti mengamati dan memberikan perlakuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca dan keterampilan menulis siswa. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari tiga pertemuan yang terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Pada siklus pertama, peneliti memberikan topik teks narasi tentang legenda Malin Kundang. Peneliti memutuskan untuk melakukan siklus kedua karena peneliti masih menemukan masalah pada siklus pertama. Pada siklus kedua, peneliti memberikan topik teks recount tentang legenda Timun Mas. Selanjutnya, peneliti menggunakan lembar pengamatan dan dokumentasi untuk mengumpulkan data kualitatif. Selain itu peneliti juga menggunakan tes yang terdiri dari pretest dan post�test untuk mengumpulkan data kuantitatif. Hasilnya, proses pengajaran teks narasi dengan menggunakan schoology e-learning web lebih efektif, menarik dan menyenangkan bagi para siswa. Para siswa menjawab dan mengerjakan tugas�tugas yang diberikan dengan segera. Hal itu disebabkan oleh penggunaan fitur di schoology e-learning web yang membangkitkan rasa ingin tahu siswa dalam melakukan aktivitas membaca dan menulis yang disediakan di web, apalagi fitur-fitur tersebut membuat mereka fokus pada pelajaran yang diberikan di kelas online dan memiliki keterlibatan yang baik. Akibatnya, Hal itu mempengaruhi pencapaian skor mereka baik dalam pemahaman membaca dan keterampilan menulis. Nilai rata-rata siswa yang diperoleh dalam Pre-tes pada membaca adalah 62,8 dan keterampilan menulis adalah 55,8. skor rata-rata Post-tes 1 meningkat menjadi 77,2 pada pemahaman membaca dan 71,5 pada keterampilan menulis. Hasil Post-test 2 menunjukkan skor rata-rata pemahaman membaca siswa meningkat menjadi 83,3 dan 76,9 pada keterampilan menulis terutama dalam teks naratif. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan schoology e-learning web selama periode pembelajaran online berhasil meningkatkan siswa; pemahaman dan keterampilan menulis di kelas sepuluh SMAN 14 Kota Tangerang.

Additional Information: The objective of this research was to find out the process, the students’ response and the students improvement in reading comprehension and writing skill after learning narrative text by using schoology e-learning web at tenth grade of SMAN 14 Kota Tangerang. This research was qualitative research method by implementing classroom action research design. The researcher observed and gave treatment to improve students’ reading comprehension and writing skill. The research was done in two cycles. Each cycle consist of three meetings. It consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, the researcher gave the topic of the narrative text about the legend of Malin Kundang. The researcher decided to conduct second cycle because the researcher still found out the problem in the first cycle. In the second cycle, the researcher gave the topic of the recount text about the legend of Timun Mas.Furthermore, the researcher used observation sheet and documentation to collect qualitative data. Besides the researcher also used test which consisted of pretest and post test for collecting quantitative data. As the result, the process of teaching narrative text by using schoology e-learning web was more effective, interesting and enjoyable for the students. The students responded and did the tasks given immediately. It was caused by the use of features in schoology e-learning web which arouse students’ curiousity in doing reading and writing activity provided in the web, moreover, the features made them focus on the lesson given in online class and have good engagement. Consequently, it influenced to their score achievement both in reading comprehension and writing skill. The students’ mean score gained in Pre-test on reading was 62.8 and writing skill was 55.8. the mean score of Post-test 1 improved into 77.2 on reading comprehension and 71.5 on writing skill. The result of post test 2 indicated mean score of students’ reading comprehension improved into 83.3 and 76.9 on writing skill particularly in narrative text. Based on the finding of this research, it can be concluded that the use of schoology e-learning web during online learning periode was successful to improve students; reading comprehension and writing skill at tenth grade of SMAN 14 Kota Tangerang.
