Abstract

Shallots are one of the vegetable commodities that are much in demand by the community in which the demand for onions increases. One of the efforts that can increase the production of shallots is by using fertilizers that contain macro and microelements, namely AB Mix fertilizer. Besides fertilization, another factor that determines the yield of shallots is variety. This study aimed to determine the effect of giving various concentrations of AB Mix fertilizer to the growth and yield of two varieties of onion (Allium ascalonicum L.). The experiment has been held from January 2020 until March 2020 in which took place in the Integrated Agricultural System Area, Serang, Banten. The research design used was a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors. The first factor is the concentration of AB Mix fertilizer, consisted of six levels were without fertilizer, control treatment, the AB Mix concentration of 4, 5, 6, and 7 ml/l. The second factor is variety, consisting of 2 levels were a variety of Sembrani and a variety of Trisula. The variety of Sembrani gave the best influence on the growth and yield of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) on the observation parameters of the number of leaves with an average value of 14.08 at 1 WAP, the average value of the number of leaves 23.77 at 2 WAP, 34.02 at 3 WAP, 40.83 at 4 WAP, 46.88 at 5 WAP, 41.88 at 6 WAP, 35.44 at 7 WAP, and 28.66 at 8 WAP; the number of tubers per clump (tubers) with an average value of 10.27 tubers; tuber wet weight with an average value of 59.33 g; and tuber dry weight with an average value of 54.21 g. It can be concluded that planting should be done in the dry season or at the end of the rainy season to avoid disease attacks on shallots.
