Abstract

The cocoa plant is a plantation commodity that has high business opportunities and economic value. However, in recent years the production of cocoa beans has decreased. One of the obstacles in cocoa cultivation is the attack of cocoa pod borer. Neem has the potential to be developed as a plant-based pesticide (biopesticide). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of concentration neem seed solution (Azadirachta indica) with the addition of palm olein dietanolamide biosurfactant and cocoa fruit size against the level of cocoa pod borer (Conopomorpha cramerella) attack. This research has been carried out in the Laboratory of Basic Sciences and Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University and Kopi village, Sukalaba village, Gunungsari District, Serang Regency, Banten Province in December 2019 until June 2020. The environmental design used was Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 1 factor is the combination of the treatment of the concentration of neem seed solutions and the size of the cocoa fruit consisting of 9 levels, including: control, 25% neem seed solution without DEA, 15% neem seed solution + DEA 9%, 25% neem seed solution + DEA 9%, 35% neem seed solution + DEA 9%, the whole solution was combined with (0,1-2,0) cm and (8,0-10,0) cm fruit size. Observational data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results of this research showed that tended to be lower in P3 (15% + DEA, fruit size (0.12.0) cm) and P8 (35% + DEA, fruit size (8.0) -10.0) cm) which is 58.33% for the percentage of cocoa pod borer attack. Other than that, P3 (15% + DEA, fruit size (0.1-2.0) cm) also gave a lower percentage for the intensity parameter of cocoa pod borer attack and yield loss, that is 13.89% and 10.46%.
