Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui latar belakang sejarah Industri Gula di Cilegon, perkembangan Industri Gula di Cilegon Tahun 2003-2018, dampak sosiadan ekonomi Industri Gula di Cilegon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode historis, dengan langkah-langkah; heuristik, kritik, interpretasi dan historiografi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Gula merupakan komoditi strategis yang dikenalkan oleh Bangsa Belanda dengan kemampuan Indonesia menjadi pengekspor gula kedua terbesadunia setelah Kuba pada Tahun 1930 dan merupakan salah satu bahan pangan pokok penting setelah beras. Industri Gula PT. Sentra Usahatama Jaya di Cilegon muncul pada Tahun 2003 dan memulai berproduksi pada Tahun 2004. BerdirinyIndustri Gula yang ada di Cilegon bertujuan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan gulindustri makanan dan minuman. Kehadiran Industri Gula membawa dampak kehidupan sosial dan ekonomi. Dampak sosial adanya Industri Gula yaitu adanyperubahan sosial terhadap masyarakat sekitar yaitu membawa kemajuan dalam bidang taraf pendidikan yaitu dibuktikan dengan kenaikan jumlah sekolah. Selain itu dampak sosial dari adanya industri gula yaitu menambah laju urbanisasi masyarakat karena adanya industri membuka lapangan pekerjaan dibuktikan dengan tabel demografi dari Industri Gula PT. Sentra Usahatama Jaya bahawa yang bekerja di industri gula tidak hanya dari masyarakat Cilegon tetapi ada juga dardaerah lain yaitu ada 8% dari luar Banten. Adapun dampak ekonomi yang dirasakan masyarakat sekitar industri yaitu mengenai lapangan pekerjaan, terjadinymobilitas sosial masyarakat yaitu yang awalnya masyarakat agraris menjadi masyarakat industri. Selain menjadi karyawan industri dampak adanya IndustrGula membawa beragam matapencaharian yang lain, seperti masyarakat membuka usahanya dengan berdagang atau membuka rumah makan disekitar industri. Hatersebut membawa kesejahteraan masyarakat untuk meningkatkan taraf ekonomkeluarga.

| Additional Information: | This study aims to determine the historical background of the sugar industry in Cilegon, the development of the sugar industry in Cilegon in 2003-2018, the social and economic impacts of the sugar industry in Cilegon. This study uses a historical method, with steps; heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. The data collection techniques used were literature study, interviews and documentation. Sugar is a strategic commodity introduced by the Dutch nation with the ability of Indonesia to become the world's second largest sugar exporter after Cuba in 1930 and is one of the important staple foodstuffs after rice. Sugar Industry PT. Sentra Usahatama Jaya in Cilegon emerged in 2003 and started production in 2004. The establishment of the Sugar Industry in Cilegon aims to meet the sugar needs of the food and beverage industry. The presence of the Sugar Industry has an impact on social and economic life. The social impact of the Sugar Industry, namely the existence of social changes to the surrounding community, namely bringing progress in the level of education, which is evidenced by the increase in the number of schools. In addition, the social impact of the sugar industry is increasing the rate of urbanization of society because the industry opens job opportunities as evidenced by the demographic list of the Sugar Industry PT. Sentra Usahatama Jaya that those who work in the sugar industry are not only from the Cilegon community but also from other areas, namely 8% from outside Banten. As for the economic impact that is felt by the community around the industry, namely regarding employment opportunities, the occurrence of social mobility of the community, namely that initially an agrarian society became an industrial society. In addition to being an employee in the industry, the impact of the Sugar Industry has brought a variety of other livelihoods, such as people opening their business by trading or opening restaurants around the industry. This brings the welfare of the community to improve the economic level of the family. | |||||||||
