Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan eceng gondok (Eichornia crassipes) sebagai media alternatif pertumbuhan cendawan penghasil kitosan dan mengetahui kelayakan hasil penelitian yang diaplikasikan ke dalam pendidikan berupa leaflet. Kitosan merupakan suatu polisakarida berbentuk linier yang memiliki potensi aplikasi yang sangat luas dalam kehidupan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan perlakuan sebanyak tiga faktor, yaitu konsentrasi, pH, dan suhu, Masing-masing tiga kali pengulangan. Data yang diperoleh diolah menggunakan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan Uji Beda Nyata Jujur (Tukey HSD). Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan eceng gondok dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media alternatif pertumbuhan cendawan dengan ditunjukkan oleh berat kering miselium pada tiap perlakuan. Faktor suhu memperoleh data paling signifikan dibandingkan faktor konsentrasi dan pH. Hasil penelitan dijadikan sebagai bahan dalam menyusun Leaflet. Berdasarkan hasil uji ahli, Leaflet yang disusun memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 86,3% dengan kategori sangat layak untuk digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran pada subkonsep pencemaran lingkungan di kelas X SMA.

Additional Information: This research aimed to determine the use of water hyacinth (Eichornia crassipes) as an alternative growth medium for chitosan-producing fungi and knowing feasibility of research applied to education in form of leaflet . Chitosan is a linear polysaccharide that has a very wide application potential in life. This study used a completely randomized design method (CRD) with treatment of three factors, concentration, pH, and temperature, with three repetitions. The obtained data were processed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and followed by Tukey HSD. The results obtained show that water hyacinth can be used as an alternative medium for fungal growth, indicated by the dry weight of mycelium. The temperature factor obtained the most significant data compared to the concentration and pH factors. The results are used as material in compiling the leaflet. Based on the results of expert testing, the leaflets that were compiled obtained an average value of 86.3% with a very suitable category to be used as a learning medium in the environmental pollution sub-concept in class X SMA.
